Few cool rugby vids

Post by Mooseman »

For those rugby fans amongst us, a montage of some of englands greatest tries throughout the ages, plus a more recent montage of the New Zealand All Blacks tries (NB this video has a DMX track for the sound track, so might want to mute it if the kids are nearby:))

England tries http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfkX_mYq ... by%20tries

All Black tries http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PD1_puuc ... ks%20tries

Plus, here's a great tackle by England's Josh Lewsey on the Aussie player Matt Rogers - just thought i'd share it with you as i always look at it and think 'Ow'....bearing in mind i'm 19 stone, so should take the hit better than Rogers, i still reckon it'd sting in the morning :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IufWNJAX ... t%20rogers

Also, for those that were wondering about the posturing stuff at the beginning of the All Black vid, it's part of the Haka, the Maori wardance. Most (if not all) of the Pacific Island rugby teams perform one before playing, here's one where the All Black Haka squares off against the Tongan wardance - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOtHiVbL ... nga%20haka

the Samoan Haka http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQ-NyW4P ... moa%20haka

the 'classic' All black haka http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMgbDItj ... moa%20haka
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkYUXn4L ... ack%20haka

and the full, new version of the haka by the current All Black squad http://www.youtube.com/watch?search=all ... fPgD9GiZLA
interestingly, because the latest version of the haka includes a throat slitting gesture, you now have to sign into youtube to see it...apparently some may find it disturbing!!

You may ask, why the obsession with NZ and the haka from a Brit. Well aside from me being an avid rugby fan, and them being the team of the moment, i think it's a pretty unique sight. Ok, the Pacific Islanders as a whole have variations on the haka, but the NZ one has especially imprinted itself on the rugby community.
I wonder what would happen if other nations asked to perfom a traditional dance before each game? Maybe whilst NZ do the haka, England could do a Morris Dance, or Germany could do the lederhosen foot tapping dance (unfortunately i don't know the actual name for it) - might bring a bit more 'culture' to the sport ;)

Not for a guy in the second grade. You can get beat up for . . . something like that. Yeah, I had a friend who got nailed because there was a rumor he wore dinosaur pajamas.

Jeez, that sort of behaviour on a rugby pitch? They'd dispense with the Haka, AND the game, and just beat-up on ya!!

Yes. That's when he's talking to old Morley and they're discussing sweaters. Old Morley is the guy all the rumours were spread about him killing his whole family.

I find this one in particular, quite amusing myself! And that might be a national stadium with plenty of supporters, but this is rugby - there'll be no fannies wearing boxers out there!!
