SAN DIEGO, June 2, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has started construction of its X-47B Joint Unmanned Combat Air Systems (J-UCAS) aircraft, the world's first unmanned surveillance attack aircraft that can operate from both land bases and aircraft carriers.

I haven’t been able to find the latest news on this yet , but it looks like science fiction has become science fact. From what I’ve heard they are programming a few of these with an AI computer that will allow them to shoot down hostile aircraft all by itself. Neat..

Well, it's like this. From what I hear, JUCAS is dead, USN and USAF have parted ways.
The vehicles themselves are about to disappear into the "black" world under new programs. It may be quite awhile before you hear anything substantive.

A little different looking from what I remember of the first versions being touted around, I guess they've altered things somewhat, but it looks COOL!
