Job Hunting

Post by KODIAK »

So, I am job hunting. Three weeks left in the army, begin my server maintenance course on Monday, and that finishes 28th July.
I have had a few job offers, on ein particular takes my fancy - UAV Engineer. I have an interview Saturday afternoon, so we'll see how that goes. The salary looks feasible and the location should be close-by. Would suit us quite well. Wish me luck. :D

Best of luck to your job hunting Kodiak. I hope you find something that you will really enjoy doing. Has it sunk in yet that your Army career will be ending soon?

The e-mail!
Thank you, very much for attending the interview today.

We would like to offer you the position of UAV engineer, starting salary £35k, we would like to take up this position on Monday 7th August 2006.

Other benefits offered with the package will be a contributable stakeholder pension and a holiday entitlement of 25 days which includes public holidays. We are also looking into a contributable private health care scheme.

I will of course put the above to you in a letter of offer with two contracts to sign, one copy to be returned to Rosemary.

I look forward to you starting on the 7th August, if you have further questions or queries please feel free to contact Rosemary or myself.
Guys, thanx for the positive vibes. I completed the interview this afternoon which took place in a rather trendy, on-site, restaurant. Couldn't believe just how nervous I felt, even in such a relaxing environment. Kept on telling myself that I must have screwed it up somehow, because I hadn't been asked all those questions you expect to hear one after the other. But by the time I was back on the road, halfway home, Kerrie had received an e-mail in my addy, contents as above. She point-blank refused to open it at first, LOL! But I just bullied her into it eventually, it would only say one of two things, and I was ready for the worst answer, I told her. They felt that my experience within the various fields they would be playing around with was important, and the other comments were that they felt there was a lot of synergy amongst the three of us at the interview - that was probably my worst fear, not managing to come across well. But it was the deciding factor for them. 8)
So, I am to be responsible for maintenance of the launcher, ground control station, and UAV itself, as a primary role. secondary roles will be writing technical specs, modification to subsytems, presentations, demonstrations of hardware etc., There is a lot more too, but I'll go into it in good time. But I'll tell you one thing, I haven't felt this excited since I was a kid. Now I AM running up the street screamin!!

Thanx again guys! I really want to get leathered to celebrate, but I wouldn't want to spoil my round of golf tomorrow with a hang-over.
So, I'm doing other things instead, like flying Falcon AF, letting the wife go out with her sister (I mean she can go anyway, but she asked and I said yeah, why not.) Lauren wants to wear my fave t-shirt to bed, so I let her and so on.
