I"m just asking this out of curiosity to see what kind of tastes we have on WOF.

Have any of you seen any of these movies?

PanzerMeyer, um I have seen a LOT of movies, of every rating and caliber, but never heard of any of those.

It's one of my favorites from Federico Fellini! I saw it for the first time a few months ago and I was enthralled with how much energy was in the film and how unique some of the characters were.

well the 1st few are nice if you want to stir up the russian population and invade Germany, as Nevsky is about German hordes running amuck on the russian stepps, and the Battleship is vs the evil germans. It is also the name of the giant troops ships Kerenski took with him on the exodus, and are considered lost tech.

7th seal was a thriller/bible action adventer with Demi Moore I believe...saw it...didnt leave a lasting impression

I've seen Triumph of the Will: Hitler's great propaganda film about the might Germany. It inspired many in Germany to believe that their nation would eventually overcome all odds and rule the world.

I've also seen Metropolis: some would consider a sci-fi classic. If you havent' seen this film, I highly recommend it as a piece of film, espeicaly science fiction film, history.

You are thinking of "The Seventh Sign" which starred Demi Moore and Jurgen Prochnow. "The Seventh Seal" is a black&white movie from the 50's directed by Ingmar Bergman.

As for Battleship Potemkin, how did that involve Germans? It was about a sailors mutiny on a battleship during the failed Communist revolt of 1905.

I have seen Nevsky, it was in B/W and in russian so all I remember was the image themes. I do know that durning the cold war, when the russians wanted to stir the home folks up over something they played it on state tv.

"Alexander Nevsky" is one of those rare instances where a movie became both a genius work of cinema and propaganda. The "Battle on the Ice" sequence is probably the most famous scene from the movie and it has been emulated many times in other movies. A couple of years ago I bought a boxed set from Criterion which has both Alexander Nevsky and Ivan the Terrible Pts I, II.

Absolutely. I have several dvd sets from Criterion and they are all great. I recently bought the Criterion 3 dvd set of "Seven Samurai" and the documentation and extra features are awesome.

None of those films hold any appeal to me, of the ones I know by name. The rest I don't know, but that pretty much ensures they're similar to the ones I do recognize.

, and I am not so sure about citroen DVD's but there cars are fantastic! I have a Citroen Xantia and it's the best car i have ever owned, very comfortable with that hydraulic suspension

LOL! I've heard those Citroens are quite popular for the drag racers. Apparently they are easy cars to upgrade with speed enhancing gear.
