From aqua team hunger force bomb scare which proves Boston is retarded, this is the settlement. 2M basically, but considering ALL the press they got form it, hell thats laughable.
and for thsoe that don't know here is a artical explaining what happaned.
http://www.breitbart.com/news/2007/01/31/D8N0HKF80.html
Basically adds of a character blipping people off where in major cities for several weeks as followers
They where in Boston for 2 weeks until some moron called it in as a bomb. No other city did, just Boston. The city is ticked and arrested the craters of aqua team hunger force who proceeded to screw with the media when they would only talk about there hair and hair styles for the 70's when mobbed by the press and asked questions making the press look like a bunch of morons to.
In the end this is just massive press for this show, and 2M is nothing. Now there was one rummer going around stating that the 2 creates may have called in the bomb as a stunt, and if they did, Lock them up. but if not, this is just funner then all hell. but I still find it funny as all hell that a Atari Character flipping people off can be considered a bomb scare.

I live just outside of Boston and I'm not laughing. Granted it seems like the city over-reacted, especially since these things were up all over the city for two weeks; still, I don't know. I imagine that when someone calls something like this in then it becomes a matter of procedure to treat the object as a potential bomb, especially in this day and age. Once you activate all your first responders, you start racking up the bills, and in this case, the ad agency and Turner corp should be the ones to pay.
This silly prank cost 2M and frankly I don't want it coming out of my taxes or the taxes of the residents of Boston. Furthermore, besides the fact that city officials may have overreacted and embarassed Boston, these two idiots should go to jail regardless. They were contracted help for an ad agency working on behalf of Turner corp. Gorilla advertising is called Gorilla because it is illegal. They did not seek the proper permission and licensing to hang these signs, and should be penalized accordingly; otherwise, this sort of thing will become more commonplace.
Bottom line is that the city acted within the law and in the best interest of its residents, albeit a bit spastic I agree; however, these two bozos never stopped to consider the ramifications of their little stunt and are now laughing their asses off because they've smoked so many joints they can't figure out what the big deal is. I wouldn't mind explaining it to them myself with the help of a titanium bat.
I have family that live and work in Boston and I wasn't happy to hear that their was a potential bomb threat; you can imagine how I felt when I found it was just some advertising stunt. Frankly, whoever sanctioned these two idiots to put the signs up should be sitting in the adjoining cell.
Oh yeah, the first thing that occurred to me when I saw the light bright cartoon characters was that the back of them could potentially be packed with anything, including explosives...there are a lot of sick bastards out there who would be happy hide their intentions behind a seemlessly harmless sign. Hell, if I can imagine it, you bet the evil jackasses out there can too.

Grifter , well I don't think these guys belong in Jail, nor anyone else. Fined maybe if they posted them without proper consent, but thats about it. Its not there fault at al that someone screamed "Bomb" (Unless they called it in then jail time for sure). These were not just in one city but many as well, so hey odd.
I can understand being concerned about bombs, but if you worry that a light up sign is a bomb, then anything could be a bomb. You could hide one any ware. I agree be carefull, and call in suspesious objects, but the person who called this in should have called in and that some blinking sign has appeared under a bridge ow wherever. Could you take a look, not screamed bomb. then the city went overboard completely.
but I will give you another case that never lead to near as much over reaction. I believe a year or 2 ago this happened in NY, where some advertising thing was to have music coming from news paper dispensers. Someone saw the wires and called it in. As far as I can remember the bomb squad was called in and they figured it out, fine. but you never relay hear about that one and it was barley mentioned. No big stink or anything. So very similar issue, A marketing ploy causing a bomb call, but no ware near the crap that went on here.
I defiantly caution people, keep a eye out, but don't overreact, and come on don't scream out that these people should go to jail when all they did was post up signs without a perment. fine them for what they did wrong. But how many others put up signs without a perment and don't get a bomb scare, do we go and charge them 2M, no. these guys relay just got unlucky relay.

I disagree with you..these idiots belong in jail for the reasons I mentioned above. If you go and post a sign without the proper permits, its illegal. If that illegally posted sign causes a bomb scare, then its offense punishable by jail time in my opinion and I believe by law, but I could be wrong. As I said before, I agree that the city probably overreacted, regardless of what the person who called this in said or didn't say; but then again the police followed procedure in this matter and acted within the law while these two punks didn't. They and their employers should be doing jailtime. These two idiots may think that they're real funny refusing to answer any questions that don't have to do with wierd hairstyles; indeed, they may think they are invoking some sort of civil disobedience, but thier witless antics only prove that they are a couple of ignorant bafoons who behaved in a negligent manner and could care less about the ramifications. Frankly, I'm tired of people being "rebellious" for the sake of being rebellious=James Dean anyone? You want to buck the system, be my guest..but for godsake have the decency to have a freakin' point when you do so. These guys could've sought the cities permission, but no, that probably would've cost money they weren't willing to pay and it would not have been as "cool." You know what's cool? Knowing that you wife is going to be home for dinner on time because she wasn't stuck in traffic because some jackass doesn't know how to make a freakin' call and ask for permission to do something. Obviously you and I have different pespectives on the matter.

Well the thing here is this was a non-violent crime, yes it was a crime to put the sign up but so is blocking a fire hydrant. But the usual thing for that is a fine, these guys got got a 2M fine, which is still a fair amount. But again we can't fault them for not foreseeing the future of a bomb call. I will not that if they had gotten authority to have the signs up in the first place, this would more then likely still have happened. If you have a bomb call, then you use as hell don;t check if they had permission to have the sign up before you run out there. so that would not have stopped this anyway.
as for the hair thing, they defentlay acted like jackasses but where following there layers instructions a bit here to. they where tolded by the loyer not to discuss the case, so they picked a dumb subject, and acted like morons. what I can't believe is how long the media payed attention to them getting them going. They themselves looked dumb in the end as they just kept falling into there dumb show. I wish they had just cut and run, but instead they kept going on them. but I defentlay agree, they where dumb about it.
So ya they should be fined, I agree with this, Jail is overkill. Especialy considering I am betting this would have happened if they did ask to be allowed to post the signs. . and yes they where dumbassess, but I also think the media helped them do that in the end as well which kind of sucks. Like the Case in NY I quoted, that was legal for the publicity company to do as they had permission from the news papers and where most liekly paying the paper for advertisement. But someone still screamed bomb, and no one looked to see if it was legal until after the cops showed up which in all honesty I agree with.

No Veg....this is the same as yelling "FIRE!" in a theater, or saying Bomb in a security line. It insights panic. When all of downtown boston starts getting shut down and people see lots of bomb techs running to and fro, it insights panic and that is the crime. Traffic gets stalled, emergancy routs get blocked and what happens when an amblance cant get thru? I kinda hope that end up sharing a cell with a bull queer named ball bat wille who tatoos boobs on their back.....well you get the idea
If they yelled "Bomb" then yes they should be locked up, toss out the key. If they made the call, then defentlay they should be screwed over 6 ways from Sunday.
But if they did not, and so far I have seen nothing to say they did besides a rummer, then they did not incite panic. they just posted signed without primision. At that point fine them, and ehll get the extra for the cost of the police and such for the day. but thats all they can be guilt for if they did not call in a bomb.
I mean if I put up a sign that blinks in my front yard, and someone calls a bomb threat, um how is it my fault that they said my blinking sign is a bomb. Hell say I forget a backpack on a subway, again same thing when someone yells bomb why should I go to jail for forgetting a backpack.
Now If I called in and said bomb on the train when my backpack was left there, even if it was books, then yes Jail time, end of story.
so in putting the signs up you are not insighting panic. In having the news paper box play music, you never meant to incite panic, you just wanted to advertise something. now these guys are dumb assess for sure, but jail is to harsh for signs.

Ok just saw your comment buff about these guys taping the bomb squad. I must have been making a psot when u posted and missed it. Um if they where there and never said a thing, then yes I agree then, they deserve harsh punishment. If they where not any ware in the area, and did not know this bomb thing had happened, then ok fine then they deserve fines. But if they heard about the bomb scare and where there taping the episode unfold and not informing the police then yes they should be held accountable.
