Sorry I have not been around much the last two weeks. The new job has me quite busy. I implemented a firewall yesterday on a live network - since we had two t1's and no firewalls. A lot of network and server stuff to do - then once that is done I get to the real job - R&D with Oracle RAC clusters...on Linux, as well as getting our platforms certified with the different versions of Linux and other x86 O.S.'es. It is good - I forgot how much I missed the IT world from an infrastructure responsibility side. The Sales Engineer was a good job, but this is better (at least for me...).

Things should settle in the next couple of weeks. I have to scrounge for office furniture right now, but once my office is settled at work I will be back in steady communication.

I will try to have another good Falcon mission created for the coming week, and also hope to try out Free Falcon and report on it at that session. I am probably going to dump my GR stuff, I am enjoying R63 much more, and want to start playing OFP again. I would also like to fly some IL2.

Shall we designate Monday eves for IL2? Tuesday eves for Falcon?

I would love to have the luxury of dropping GR (much as I like it), but the 56K thing has me beat there, so I am keeping mine until I at least go hi-speed - have to be honest, that is looking like probably end Jan '04  .

Man, I am hoping to get extended even longer. We are hoping to extend until the end of my career (22 yr point), which is only 3 years away next month. If that were to be the case we would surely opt to live in the main town of Med Hat, and not here in the crown village of Ralston (little house on the prairies!! 8O ), which would then allow for the access to Hi-Speed that I so crave  .

Two T1's no firewalls? 8O

Well, my weekend was completely shot too, but at least you were having fun doing new stuff....

We had a core switch utterly blow its brains out. We had to have stuff shipped and couriered from all over the country... kentucky, san francisco, and boston to name a few... our sales guy was picking up power supplies in the city, engineers on site, server folks waiting to bring things up.... man what a fiasco

You never want to have to repatch ~150 cat 5 and ~22 Fiber cables under the gun. It took me two hours to label everything. Two guys repatching, I'm recrimping the 8 broken connectors, and everyone sweating bullets.

All the while your doing it your thinking what is gonna happen monday morning if it doesnt work and you look like your gonna puke... sorta like this ---->

On the bright side management has seen the light and we will be purchasing a full backup system in case this or the one in the other building ever does the same thing again.
