Tax Man hates me but wow my companey likss me

Well in the 1 1/2 year contract for coming state side, there is a min 10% raise every 6 months. After that 1 1/2 year contract you can stay with the company but betting that changes. but in all honesty I expected them to do just the 10% MIN as that way they get more cash in the end.

Well someone things I am doing a fucking good job (I sure fooled them) as I got my first raise #'s today, um 22% raise. I nearly fell out of my chair. Makes me wonder how much my parent company actuality gets payed for me being here lol. Probably into the 6 figures mark (specialized field in computers). Neadless to ay I am in a good mode now and can't wait to get home, have a beer and order some take out as it looks like I may actulay get these dam student loans taken care of. PDT_Armataz_01_12 I would buy you all a round of beers if you where all in this area PDT_Armataz_01_12

You say the taxman hates you and you are Canadian?? I dont know if you've noticed yet but US Federal income tax is a lot lower than what you get dinged for in Canada!

Damn, 22% raise? Holy crap, that's awesome. The largest raise I have ever had is about 6%, then again, I don't work via a contract. Congrats man!

Seeing as you have all of this extra money, maybe you should come visit us... errr or maybe not... :P

I'm in Chicago, and I just might convince the misses to take a weekend trip to Detroit and into Canada. Back in the late 90's I spent a summer in Detroit doing contract work with Ameritech then SBC and now AT&T.

The most I ever got was a 20% raise on a job with a promotion. It was the mid 90's and I was working in the Hardware department of a company so they saw fit to promote me to Desktop support, I went from 25k to 30k (even then that wasn't alot of money), funny thing about that when I got the promotion they put me onsight at one of their clients and I found out that they were charging them 150k a year to keep me there. So I decided that I needed to move into full consulting and I instantly bumped myself up to $30 an hour and I was living the high life (man I wish I would have banked most of that money).

Well I have 4 big things to do with the cash before I relay start saving.

1: kill Student loans and visa
2: Rent, food and standard bills (a given really)
3: New car this year (my olds Acheava has been good to me, but you can hear the engine is not doing as well as it use to, well not be long before I have to put cash into it, better to get into a new car with full warranty)
4: New PC. Hey this is a gaming group, and I want to game. So ya thats my big toy for the year (car is a toy as well but its a necessity relay)

Any extra cash well go into me having fun this year. IE some paintball BIG games and just fun games as well. Few trips to visit friends and family and such.

But this year there I will be no saved cash. but once I kill off the student loans, and I want to do that fast, I will start doing the RRSP crap to put cash away for retirement and just general savings to have when I get a house or something (or a girlfriend lol).
