H-1B Visa's gone in less then a day

Ok I am on a TN visa which is a 1 year work permit that can be extended 1 year at a time usually without issue. Its for Canadians and Mexicans only, tho Mostly Canadians.

The h-1B is a 6 year permit and when on a h-1b one can apply for green card but a TN you can't. Last year it took 2 months to fill the cap of h-1b visa's this year they opened the door and by yesterday afternoon they closed them. They got 150,000 applications when the cap is 65,000. So even if I am lucky enough to be in the 150,000 applications, its still random if they check my application. Needless to say this is a bit of a bitch for me, especially considering I never applied for a job state side, the company found me, yet the government is limiting the amount of skilled workers per year when clearly this 1 day thing shows that there is a lot of company's trying to bring in skilled workers who relay can't now. Someone in england applying for the H-1B is crewed for 1 year now tell next years 1 day mad rush. That person may be very important to a company because of a special skill that can't be found state side, yet the goverment is hurting the business. I do believe that company's should try and find a worker for the job in the Us but thats not always easy, my case for example, what I am doing is limited field and there is a growing demand for LDAP.

But ya this dose make me worry a bit, as all it takes is for one border guard who is in a bad mood to deny my TN visa renewal and I am completely screwed.

the whole h-1b visa business is a mess. I know people down here on h1's who are working as a fast-food manager. Totally not what the H1 was meant for. It's all a scam and the business who gets the apps in on time and has the best lawyers gets the visas.

My wife was on an H1 when I met her, but even her visa was of questionable legitimacy. Sure, the business went through all the paperwork to get it done, but her position was hardly difficult to fill.

Ok um H-1B form hat I understand you need to have a bachelor degree jsut to even apply for a H-1B, its meant for skilled workers, people with skills hard to find in the US. that actuality sucks hearing people who work at fast-food got here on one. Relay if you come to the US on a H-1B you should be forced to stay in the field you trained in, and what you applied to come here for. And it should be a skill that it hard to find. what I am doing, there are few in this field so hey I think I would deserve a H-1B, but ya something like your example just sucks.

Now for the Lawyers, I do not know much if anything about a business using lawyers to get there peoples h1's through.

immigration is big business. Lawyers help (or hurt -- depending).
