BEAUFORT, S.C. - A Navy F-18 Blue Angel plane crashed during an air show Saturday, plunging into a small neighborhood of homes and trailers and killing the pilot.

23 people killed in the Blue Angels since 1946. The Thunderbirds have lost a good 20 since 1953 even if you don't include the freak crash of a C-123 transporting personnel to an air show.

I know we all love jets, and they are truly beautiful, but it seems like a waste to lose these good men (and women?) to flashy show boating. They already risk their lives, why play with them...
