camera decisions
I am looking into getting a new camera, somthing with a hell of a lot more features and zoom then my current old tosheba camera. Looking at ones they keep calling the sooperzoom, which are compact sized cameras (large compact) with a large amount of features, similer to the SLR camera's but not a SLR idea.
One I am looking at now is this
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canons3is/
Canon s3, a 6 mp with 12 X zoom with a boat load of features. Its a eyar old camera now and the s4 is due out sometime, tho its technicaly late and there has been no announcement on its expected release date yet. but that will come out around the 450$ mark while this one will stay at the 300$ even after the new one comes out as it compares to others in that price range.
I was wondering if nayone had nay other suggestions in the price range, do note sony is not on my list at all, I just WILL not deal with memory sticks as besides soney, no one uses the dam things and they are more expensive then comparable Sd cards. the only other camers I found in the price range was a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8 which is newer and has some more nice features then the canon but has one massive drawback, it usess a power cell instead of regaler batteries. those cells are going to be expensive to replace and hey I cant go to the corner store on a vacation to get one like I can regaler AA and AAA batteries.
Here is the site for the Panasonic one

so hey nay recomendations for a decent camera, 6 MP or better 3004 range give or take a little with a decent zoom and a boat load of features.

18X zoom, and 7MP. but its price tag is 500$ price range on it. Also the reviews show its image quality is not as good as it shood be form what I have been reading. but in the end I am sure since I am no expert the image issue I would nevr notice, so its relay the price tag. I expect the S4 from cannon when it comes out to be in direct competition with this one.

We are upto Sd1000 lol, little over 200$ range, but other oens are around for a little less with loads of features. I will most likely end up getting something like that later on as a small one to just take with me any ware as they are nice and small and take a good pic still. but for now I am looking for the camera I can do thsoe super zoom shots and just about everything with, a jack of all traided basiclay. I am interested in going SLR some time in the future, and figure this will be a good way to see if I want to go that way withouth spending 1000$ range on a SLR and realize I can't stand that much control or I will not use the functionality. I just foiund that the camera dad and I had in calaforina, a canon power shot with 3mp and 3x zoom was relay good but there where lots f shots I just could not get because of lack of zoom and other features.
I just bought the Canon SD700 a couple months ago, best digital camera I have ever owned. (The Canon SD700 is my 5th digital camera). Very simple to use, easy to transfer pics and videos.
Here is a review on it: http://www.steves-digicams.com/2006_reviews/sd700.html
I can't say enough good things about it. It's compact and small enough to fit in my pocket, has a 6 Megapixel capability, a 4x Digital Zoom, video recording capability(Excellent quality), and much more. I bought the camera from http://www.beachcamera.com/shop/product ... =CNPSSD700 , they usually have pretty good deals on cameras and accessory packages. I got the package with the 2GB card and card reader.

I will get something like that in the future for general use like I said earlier, and I admit I do like Canon anyway. Its a basic point and click, the ones I am looking at can be used like that but have a lot of toys on top of just point and click even over that style of camera that I want to play with.
Well I am a dumb ass, but O well. I went to circuit city to check the cameras out, mostlay just because they are on display and I can play with them, cable sucks that holds them down but o well. I was relay strung between the canon and the panasonic, they are very similarly matched over all. But the canon had 2 features that wone a max 1/3200 shotter over a 1/200 shotter so faster speed and in movie mode I can take a stereo sound movie and use the 12x zoom while the panasonic can only use 1x and is mono sound. Very minor feature on the movie but it was enough. I was not going to get the thing today but the sale price was the same as the standard price online, so said screw it I get it now and can play.
I will post what I think of it later, as if I don't like it i go back ans switch.

My wife has something like this; not sure the number; it's also a very nice camera... I still use my Canon PowerShot S30. Even if I did recommend that (which I can't because it is fat and only 3.1MP, trash by todays standards) they don't make it anymore.Softball wrote:I just bought the Canon SD700 a couple months ago, best digital camera I have ever owned. looked at olympus new super zoom, is 450$ but hey looked anyway as it has 18X zoom and some nice toys. Problem is there are a lot of issues that make it not worth it.
So far tho tis canon is a sweet toy, I can snap pictures very fast, and even tho I never got it to be a movie camera, its a nice feature, but wow I am very impressed with he movie it takes. I realy can't wait to read this manual and get some time in playing outside and such. I realy can't wait to play with it this summer when I go to chargo to there museam, specificlay to see a German U-Boat they have there. The camera will get a workout there with bad lighting and all the worst picture taking issues you could imagion. I know this as last year in calaforina I was on a Us WW2 sub, and ya most pic's came out liek crap with my dads decent powershot camera, but its not got near the options of this new toy
