This is the end for Microsoft. And Novell brought it about. It's going to be ugly, but it's more or less the end. I'm not sure if Novell are geniuses for bringing it about, or the sock puppets on the hands of the dead, needing only to be taken out with the trash.

no, i do not see it as the end. it might be the end for Novell though. a lot of folks are probably going to shy away from Novell software due to this agreement. their only out will be if Microsoft ends up buying them, which will probably become more desirable to Microsoft than paying those millions to them, as well as aquisition of the Novell patents.

how many company's out there have linux and M$. O look M$ wants more cash for a bunch over very vague patents form a broken patent system (yes it is extremely broken), ya lets move to M$. THAT is exactly what M$ wants, to spread fear as the SCO case, which M$ did put money into went no ware fast. But really, no list of pattents, and if there are some, hey guess what the community would be very hard at work to fix this issue, and remove them.
This is a plublicity stunt, but it they do go after people, think of how bad this will look against M$, we sue you if you don't use our software is what this says I can see M$ in court again FAST with the government again for monopolistic crap for trying to relay drive there only major competitors out of the market. That is EXACTALY what this is. Novell, IBM and other big copaneys using Linux who have promoted and supported linux to the point M$ can't take them all on.

Remember M$ also breaks a lot of IBM, UNIX and even boat loads of open source pattents that hey if everyone who likes OpenSource said 2 can play this game. M$ would end up paying out a Boat load and in the end hurt themselves way more then they think. OS theorey is mostlay dating back to the 60's, so the basic OS can't be pattent, and even newer stough, WOW a menyu, prior Art is easy to find. Relay Software patents are a boat load of crap relay slowing DOWN advancment. Especialy considering when someone find the pattent M$ is bitching aobut give it a few weeks and Linux will not even infrenge them any more as hey open source, watch how fast the community says, We are sorry and fizes them all, whle waving a middle finger. Hence why SCO and M$ never stated infringing code as they know the cases would be null and void FAST and show how fast the open sourse community will fix there code unlike M$
