Dune is great

Post by PanzerMeyer »

I'm almost halfway through "Children of Dune" which is the third book in the Dune series written by Frank Herbert and I have to say that this is the best sci-fi which I have ever read. I really like Herberts attention to detail and the way he develops all of the different characters in the Dune universe. It's great stuff.

speaking of frank herbert, have any of you read 'whipping star'? not many seemed to around this area. i think it was one of the first sci fi stories that launched me down the sci fi reading path.

If you ever see a Sci-Fi book that has the Hugo or Nebula awards , you can bet it’s going to be a good read. Dune was one of these books.

Paperback (sometimes referred to as softback, or softcover) books are getting expensive these days. A good source for inexpensive reading is your local library. Lots of people turn in their old books so others can read them too. Our local library here in town has a good selection of Sci-Fi books to pick and choose from. If I see Children of Dune , I’ll pick it up and check it out.

another good spot that a book collector friend of mine goes to are the local goodwill and salvation army stores. they are cheap, about a buck apeice. of course you have to do some good browsing etc. but one time i even seen some Btech books on the shelves. the best part about it, is you support a local area that helps ppl, plus if you get a book that wasnt all that good it only cost ya a little. if your a book collector and know your stuff, you can make some good money at it. he told me about a motorcycle owners manual he sold for close to 40 bucks and it only cost him a dollar :P

The Dune paperback books have been reasonably priced. I've bought the first three of $7.99 each at Barnes & Nobles.
