The thing with ELH and Consoles

X-Box stole Mech warrior 5 from us and called it something else. That broke up the band and had the remaining folks fuming about it for awhile. So it’s not all consoles , it’s just the X-Box that left us a little bitter about whole ordeal.

and there you go..

besides, "evil" is a relative term. And xbox didn't "steal" mech warrior 5 - it was never made. xbox had a game called mechassault which was a totally different game/genre. And whose game is it to steal? FASA's? Isn't it their game? Weren't they the ones who made it in all its versions?

no...they did not. i think they licensed it. last set at least was published by Microsoft...and I am not sure who holds the license now. WizKids?

The Battletech simulator might be the next best thing...along with the mods for MW4 Mercs... But we will see what Quake Wars holds as well.

the thing that comes to mind every time this topic comes up is why no one made a MMO out of Btech? i mean realy, you got MMO's up the wazoo with stuff no one ever heard of, but lets leave the genre alone that ppl have played for YEARS and had their kids playing too. i dont get it... :::shakes head:::

M$ holds all Battletech and mechwarrior licenses (electronic gaming/images/likness etc...not the PnP side) since they bought out FASA interactive between the Mech Commander 1 and Mechcommander 2 days. Wizkids owns Battletech....and IIRC was trying to get the Electronic side back from M$ but they dont usually give up titles they have accquired.....hell Best Buy still has MW3 and MW4 on the shelves here and there........And they pretty much ruined MC and the Mechwarrior series (especially the MW series) but just making crap up. The slottign system comes to mind along with mechs that DONT exist....ok...so I'm a Cannon Nazi when it comes to battletech....M$ hs screwed the pooch on way more titles than they ever got right....which is prolly why all they do now is kiddie console games

Hells bells they even borked the Flight Sim X....and with that prolly kill it also.....

Fun part is they had MW5 in the works. Had a team, had the base code done, even had examples and everything. It was a game well under way, and to my understanding was in the alpha stage meaning they had a playable game, buggy and needing refinement but it ws there. BUT M$ screwed it by saying we want to do mechassult to promote xbox. Thats it.

hell even today people talk MW5, here is a link to a fourm on the thing

actually - there is nothing there about MW5 having an alpha or anything... that is just a hopeful/wishlist forum...

"Just to make this clear to anyone coming and seeing this section, at this point in time there is no Mechwarrior 5.

This section is here so that any future developers can see what the gamers want and hopefully make those desires come true.

The last official word was that MW5 was cancled at least till there is good enough computer tech to make the game really good and enjoyable. I forget the exact words used.

But you can all bet that if/when Mechwarrior 5 is started up again we will help spread the news."

That's one thing that bothers me in general. Gamers act like they're entitled to new versions of their favorite games that must fulfill their fantasies. If the old version of the game is sooooo good, why not keep playing it? The developers/license holders don't owe the gamers anything. We should count ourselves fortunate any time a game is released that is fun and lets us hang out with our pals online and do the things we enjoy. To agonize over games that don't exist (except in our fantasies) is a waste of effort.

well for myself, if you want to play other games you have to upgrade. i mean you cant play oblivion on a 200 mhz pentium. with that in mind..... NM95 died for me when the jump jet bug came along with the pentium 2 CPU. after a long time they did create a fix for it, a CPU underclocker, that slowed your computer down and the bug went away, for the most part. the program did cause alot of crashes and sometimes didnt work. somthing unpredictable like that shot playing online to hell hehe.
now i realy liked mw3, the graphics and physics were cool. the problem with that was they didnt secure the game at all. it got totaly hacked to hell. the ability to create new maps was very limited and new mechs were out of the question. (as far as i seen to date.) Pirates moon was cool too, but again hackable, and limited maps. you can only get killed in the same place so many times ;)
MW4, used to work great for the longest time... then blackknight and mercs came out and still worked good. for some reason latly ( last year or two) i get it installed, play it a few times, get all excited to go do multiplayer and get the snot blown out of me ( after hours of DLing and installing the needed files) i clicky the little icon and its ERROR TIME WEEE lol. and thats it for that install. if its not that then the game play is a slideshow. ive asked around, spent hours apon hours on the net looking into it and nada. so finaly after a great deal of disapointment i gave up on it. there are alot of great games out there, just nothing to replace the way MW seemed to fill the basic gameing needs i have. although tribes was alot of fun in its day :)

the expresion of desire in games is not bad i think. the hopes of what could happen could spark ppl who have the abilities, just not the ideas. so new wounderfull games can come from it, or, maybe, old loved games can come back. i honestly doubt i will see a new MW game that will tweak me like the other ones did for so long. if one comes along, then great. if not let me cry in my beer man! ;)

yea i have that installed right now. i thinki have an original install of mercs on the HD as well. now that one was kinda wierd, it worked, then gave a error a few times then worked. this leads me to believe it may not be mercs that is the main problem. but, i never had these type of problems with any other game or program.... so i dont know.. the closest problem i had was with NWN2 and that was a major slow down problem. i do think i need to clean out my PC and the heat and the vid card dosnt help. i may of gotten damaged last summer. i found out it was cloged with stuff in the heat sink.
