MADDEN '08

WHAT THE HELL! If the MADDEN series was a Microsoft O/S then it would be the transition from 98 to ME, add a couple of features, upgrade a few give it a paint job and add on to something that dosen't work (hall of fame mode), hey if we add on use rookies from the '07 class they will come. [font=Andalus]NOTTTTT!!!!![/font]
So I open the package install it and start it up, low and behold I swear to GOD I thought to myself hey I saw this yesterday when I played the Chiefs at home (Soldier Field) and it just got worse. Again it was given a slight paint job and a few upgrades, HIT STICK 2.0, but the biggest and worse change had to be Field Goals, Punts and Kick Offs. WHAT THE HELL! For years Madden after Madden they never touched the special teams feature then they had to have a light bulb go off and HERE'S A SPOILER FOLKS, instead of keeping the assignment to the number two button they decide hey lets real F*#% with their heads and and move it to the right analog stick and lets make it even more assanign and add precision control centered on the direction you are kicking! Its like the Hit Stick found a new place to reside itself when the defence is not on the field.

Yeah that doesn't suprise me. I buy a Madden game every three to four years because any sooner, the difference between them is so irrelevant it is not worth it. Also, the Madden series has had a nasty habit these last few years of not listening to its custormer/fan base. They've blithely ignored customer requests and simply insisted on injecting features into the game that either don't make any sense or actually hinder control and gameplay. Granted, it's a football game so there is not a lot of room for creativity in the way of appearance and features, but these recent changes really don't impress me at all. I hope that they do something spectacular with Madden 2010, because I won't buy another until at least then; or better yet, someone produces a better, more realistic football sim.

I kind of like the "kick stick" as I call it, it adds a little more challenge to the kicking game. I got the X360 version, and it looks absolutely stunning in 1080i HD. I have the 07 version for PC, and I would say the graphics and details are better this year. They changed around some of the features and functions, so it will take some time to get used to it.

I'm digging the new version so far, I need some more game time to give a more in depth review.

Softball whatever you are smoking please stop for your wife's sake if nobody else. I got that game as soon as GameStop opened went home before work and damn near died when I had dejavu from '07, I have to buy a new controller because my kick stick (right analog) is damn near dead from using it last year.

The game isn't all that bad, really. Maybe you need to lower your expectations? It's just a game man.

There is definitely a die-hard Madden community out there and it is most displeased with EA simply because EA could care less what the community wants. I think DA is kind of coming from that camp here. As for me, I just know EA has a tendency to screw up Madden so I' staying away from it for a bit. I'm fairly happy with 07 despite some of its quirks and see no reason to give EA another 50 dollars anytime soon. Frankly, I don't understand why people buy a new version every year. What is the appeal to doing that? I got a nice fantasy franchise going right now, why would i want to start over?

from what I've read, most people are happy with the improvements in 08. NCAA football had the "kick stick" last year, so i was used to it already.

I think people buy the new version because of the roster changes, game improvements/changes, being able to hookup online with friends and other players (Madden 07 and Madden 08 are incompatible), etc... If they would just release an updated roster for the game, I would definitely stick with Madden 07.

WoW so they waited to spring it on us this year. I am seriously thinking about selling my copy.

Sell it. YOu know the fact that they only support the current copy for multiplayer for one year is complete BS>Regardless, I play this one offlien anyway and I could care less about roster changes, since I scramble everything in fanasy draft anyway.. Blah. I'll stick with 07, wake me up for 10 or even 12.

Gator and I played a couple of games tonight, I lost the first game Saints 0 - Bears 7. The second game I was losing Chargers 3 - Indianapolis 10 before we lost connection. I believe Gator's internet went down or something, I did not see him online after the lost connection. I would say we were both pretty well matched the entire night.

It was a bit laggy on the kick meter and passing buttons while online. Other than that, it was a total blast! They will definately need to work on the lag issues or online play will suck.
