teamspeak2 server

Post by Hammer »

well, i have been threateaning for a while and it is finally up and running. the password to connect is the same as ventrilo. if you want to be an admin let me know by sending me a PM. I have created no channels yet but should start that tonight.

I would like folks to respond to:

should we allow registered users only, or guests as well? of course a guest will still need the connect password.

the server is located at ts.rlgaming.com

i think guests would be ok - we haven't had a rampant problem with uninvited folks. Only once or twice that I recall.

[s]I've installed and tested - unable to connect with the normal "connect" dialog, but I was successful using the same settings in the "quick connect" dialog. It's not a show-stopper, but I thought I'd bring it up in case anyone else has an issue.[/s]

ok, so i'm an idiot who typed in the server address wrong in the "connect" dialog. for some reason I could not connect to ts.teamspeak.com ... go figure.

o.k. - channels created...

it would be great if some folks tested it out. remember i can tweak the codecs on the channels to make them sound better - they are pretty much at minimum right now.

K- i set all channels to 12.3 speex codec, so everyone should try that and if it causes lag for you drop your setting down.

EDIT: I think your client will use the codec set by the server channel. not sure. if anyone discovers differently please post the how to.

Is there a reason why you are setting up a TS2 server? I think Ventrilo has been rock solid for the last few years. I'm assuming people here have requested TS2? TS2 has a few features that Ventrilo doesn't support and that's great, but I'm trying to understand why we need it?

I was just wondering.

And we need forums so that we have something to do during the day while we're at work. :P
