ETQW Demo

ETQW Demo

Anyone out there try out the Demo yet? It has MP plus a mission in SP. The best place to get the Demo is at the ETQW home site. There you’ll find plenty of faster places to download from.

i tried it last night and i did not care for it. Pacing, etc. It feels like BF2 on speed.

I have to agree with Gator. Feels WAAY to arcadey. It really felt like I was playing a simplified console game. Such a shame too, the trailers from a year ago gave this game some promise. Not the case IMO, granted this is based on a demo. I could not find a way to change the graphics settings in the demo, so I was stuck at 1024x768 on my 24" WS LCD.

I played the demo and it was fun for about an hour. I agree about the speed of the game being way too fast. I'm hoping that the next Unreal Tournament game will be good .

Softball, that's weird about not being able to change graphics settings. Did you check under the "ADVANCED" tab?

Yes, I checked in the Advanced settings. I did not see any way to change the resolution.

I'm looking forward to the next Unreal Tournament, should be good if they follow along with their past versions.

the problem i have with ETQW is that it feel too brittle and plasticy. I know most of you guys don't care for BF2142, but i like the way the guns in that 'feel' right, like there's some weight and recoil behind them. The same is true of the vehicles. Having seen trailers of the new UT and Crysis, i have high hopes for both of them.

If it wasn't for the speed, I'd love ETQW. The AI in it is very good for this type of game. The problem is they went for the twitch gamers over the tactical players. Not that they couldn't have done it the other way, they just chose not to. If only they added an option to do so (ie "fast" and "tactical" settings).

Maybe someone will mod it to do that.

Thanks for the heads up. I’ll agree on a few things there.

(1) It looked good about a year ago

(2) I’ll play it for about an hour ( just so I can say I did )

I have the DL but am still waiting on my graphics card B-4 I install it. That wont come in until next week now. ( free shipping n-all)

Meanwhile I’ll download the BioShock demo. Lots of hubbub about that on the net there.

IGN gave it 9.7
