Cheap upgrade to my system.

Post by Nemisis »

Hi guys long time since i posted but i have been keeping an eye on what you guys are up to.

My CPU went pop 2 weeks ago (AMD XP-M 2500) and forced me to get another one, but on checking how much it would be to buy a Xp 3200 to do a simple replacement i found it would cost me the same amount of cash to buy a new motherboard and an Athlon 64 4200 X2. So thats what i did and i also threw an ATI 1950 Pro graphics card into the mix as well as they are reasonably cheap and they blow away my old 9800 pro.

So with a complete reinstall of Windows XP (holding off on going Vista which i could have done) a faster CPU and graphics card IL2 and Lockon run smooth as silk with high settings and 1600 X 1200 resolution, i am ready to take to the skies again hopefully with you guys soon.

I do need a new head set (any advice on a good brand or model from you guys would be great) as my phono jack got accidently pulled off, but i will be ordering a set this weekend with the extra cash from all the overtime i have done the past 2 weeks.

Hope everyone is doing great and will speak to you all soon.

damned phonojacks....I know how that one goes. Well, I still say planetronics is your best bet. Cheap but quality.

Sennheiser has some good hardware, even in the lower priced range. As Grif says, Plantronics is also a solid bet.

I've been using Logitech headsets with the built in mic now for about 3 years and I've liked them a lot.
