I'm interested but of course as with all mods, we need to make sure that everyone is on the same page and is in agreement since we'll need to make sure we have the same files. Are the mods pretty easy to install? (ie EXE files you just launch?)Buffalo Six wrote:

Why would it be you and Steel against the rest of us? You trying to say that you two are the best pilots or something?Buffalo Six wrote:CooP is what we all like, But it might be interesting with say Steel and I flying against everyone else, even if we are flight leads and have 3 AI wings

i do not think Buff or I care what planes...
why Buff and I - because we do not care if we stay in one plane type for many missions, we both prefer it.
many of you also do not know that there is an opfor unit in WOF. this unit is invite only and i command that unit. there are two active members and one being considered. it encompasses both air and ground activities.

Well, I'm glad to see that people are corresponding, generating ideas, and hashing out pros and cons. I'll give this another day or two to see if anyone else wishes to weigh in and add something and then I'll try and summarize what has been said here in an organized way that everyone can digest, and we can proceed from there. :-) So far, it sounds as though we want to keep IL2, Falcon, get back into some GR from the ol' days...good stuff. :-)
Summary of what has been said here
Hey guys,
Thought it would be useful to summarize what we've discussed so far and propose what we should do next. I'm just taking some initiative on this one and hope no one minds:
First of all, I'm very much encouraged by our GR play last Friday night. For those of you who were not there, it reminded me a great deal of the ol' days when we did our best to practice real tactics and cover each other's asses. Now there was a lot of botched plays during the game, a bit of friendly fire, but overall I'd say we did well, and more importantly we had fun. The atmostphere was just relaxed enough in my opinion, that it didn't feel too much like "work." I think everyone enjoyed it overall.
That said, the opinions expressed in this thread clearly suggest that we're all looking for something a little different in our gaming experience; however, it also appears that we can make some compromises so that all feel as though they have the opportunity to be included and have an enjoyable time. To this end, I'm going to make some proposals here that include some of your suggestions:
1. Time is always going to be something we lack. All of us are extremely busy. Some of us may not be able to commit one or two nights to real-life gaming per week...I know I'm having real trouble doing this myself right now. Nevertheless, a loose schedule may at least help people of like interest get together and play particular games. The Game Time Forum will continue to be heavily used so days and times can be changed to accomodate the most people possible with the understanding that not everyone will be able to make it. The fact is that we don't want folks showing up to play one game and find everyone else is playing another nor do we want people waiting on vent all night for a bunch of no shows. Here is a loose schedule for now. We can change it to accomodate the most people possible. I'm sure you guys will have feedback on this one:
Mon. ARMA on SIMHQ server
Thurs- Falcon 4AF
Friday-GR revival/IL2
Sat- NWN2
2. Each mission, both in the air and on the ground, should have assigned mission leaders and good comms discipline. Can the extraneous chatter and follow the directions of your team or flight leader. Team leaders can change, in some cases, from mission to mission so that everyone gets the opportunity to develop leadership skills. It's an interesting challenge.
3. Using real life tactics in either case will require practice. We should occasionally schedule the first mission of the night for "practice." This mission would allow us to work on wingman/flight skills or team tactics as needed. I for one would love to practice real-life wingman/dogfighting tactics when attacking enemy AI aircraft. Since most of us are familiar with real-life tactics, these sort of missions do not necessarily have to be very long nor do they have to happen every time we play, but everyone, even real life experts, train from time to time to knock the rust off. The training missions may help us develop our skills in more comlex games like Falcon 4AF.
4. IL2: I recommend that we attempt to stick with one aircraft for five to six missions. I know some here would prefer to stick with one aircraft the whole night, but that may not be feasible since the missions can take a long time and some others here are not particularly fond of flying just one airframe all evening. However, flying the aircraft for say five missions in cooperative mode may be agreeable. We may then be able to extend the time guys like Steel, Buff, and myself would like to fly in just one aircraft by making it available in the opposition list. We can then fly as aggressors so long as we agree not to go head hunting. This would provide some of us the potential of flying one a/c for most if not all of the night.
Furthermore, DCG may help encourage the group to stick with a relative set of a/c for the night, say a flight of L-5s complimented by L-7's, Migs, air cobras, and IL2s. In this case, guys like Panzer may choose to fly the IL-2 or air cobra instead of the L5... or he may even choose to fly aggressor in the me109 or He110 so long as he promises to not go "head hunting."
Addtionally, I recommend that we keep air starts to save time but allow for people to land so long as they aren't going to take all night in the attempt. If everyone is dead and they need only five minutes to put the a/c on the ground, let's allow them the honor of "completing" their mission since they at least survived the battle while the rest of were too stupid or unlucky to preserve our airframes.
Finally, we shouldn't be afraid of flying the very rare, long mission. It gives us time to talk tactics, practice formation flying, and jibber jabber about whatever, a healthy thing for such a close unit such as ours to do on occasion.
3. ARMA: I think many of us are no longer interested in playing this game. I'm still interested myself. I think that those of us who are intersted should join Panz and Jedi on Monday nights on the SIMHQ server and play this game there since SIMHQ apparently does such a good job organizing the sessions.
4. Falcon 4. Right now, I propose Thursday nights starting with one training mission focused on one tactic/skill per week followed by real missions in which we try to implement what we've learned, in addition to our prior knowledge of course.
5. GR revival night is working well so far. Let's keep this going.
6. Search for the next best FPS/flight sim as always.
7. Recruiting. Perhaps we should occasionally invite people to join the squad if they demonstrate that they are passionate and of like-mind-a good fit for RLG. Let's not just invite anybody because it will ultimately be a waste of our time and efforts.
Other considerations:
1. we should reestablish/establish relationships with other squads of like mind. For example, we flew IL2 with the Dingers for a while and I think most of us enjoyed it. playing co-ops and friendly competition would be very cool, I think.
I think that about covers it. I hope most people find these suggestions agreeable and we can begin implementing them. Still, any feedback or suggestions you folks would like to add here would be welcomed. I hope to see you all this week at GR, IL2, Falcon 4, or NWN2. Take care all.

mumble grumble I stated earlier I want to remain int he same aircraft for long periods of time to I agree with gettign use tot he aircraft idea, tho was suggesting the list of say 5 aircraft as a compermise.
But in all good summery and also note there is a sticky with all Ghost Recon Mods on the go now. Softball, Hondo, Tach and myself are already running everything but again with GR, if one person shows without it its 30 seconds work to mod the server to have everyone play.
