Finished watching this series about a week and a half ago, as Softball said it was a damm good series and i can' figure out why they cancelled it.

Fox cancelled it because they were extremely impatient and upset that the show didn't have stellar ratings from the outset. As for the show, I agree that its damn good. Simon is my favorite character by far!

I was one of the ones that watched the show when it first aired. Keep in mind a couple of things: they did not air in order as on the DVD, but if you look at them you'll see what order they aired in. The Train Job was first. Fox's shortsighted decision NOT to air the 2 hr pilot they'd paid for at the start is baffling. Instead, they aired it at the end of the run??
After the first couple of eps they aired the 2 weakest in the series IMHO back-to-back so I stopped watching. I don't recall which ones they were, though. After a couple of weeks of not watching, I caught another one and started to be pulled back in. I was totally hooked when the show was canceled. I think by that time it was too late, though, and a lot of the early audience had left. There was no time given for a new one to find it.
They didn't even bother airing all the eps they'd paid for so they could show reruns instead! I did find it interesting that the last one filmed was the last one aired and they just skipped airing some of the other final ones.

You will LOVE the Serenity movie Nem, I vividly remember smiling ear to ear while watching it in the theater. They did a decent job of portraying the series in the movie. Although, if someone watched the movie without watching the series first, they would most likely not get the big picture as to who the people are, where they came from, and get the same "giddy" feeling I had when I watched Serenity.
There is a scene in the movie that left me scratching my head thinking "WTF". I won't talk about that scene here, as it would completely spoil your viewing experience seeing as you haven't seen it yet. I have watching Serenity at least 5 times on DVD and the Firefly series 2 times. I tend to get depressed when I get to the end of the Firefly series, knowing that they could have kept this series going. I'm hoping they will bring it back at a future date. They are scheduled to make 2 more Serenity movies, but who knows when that will happen.

I have now watched the Movie Serenity and it is a great movie, especially if you have watched the series, i was advised by a friend at work to watch the series then the movie and i watched the movie last night.
Pity about Wash, sorta ruined the chances of reviving the series.
But definitely at great series.

I made the mistake of watching Serenity before watching the Firefly episodes and as a consequence I thought the movie was average at best. Of course, I knew nothing of the characters and the story left me a bit confused and lost for about the first 40 minutes but later on when I watched the tv episodes and then watched the movie for a second time, my opinion and perception of the film changed completely.

True but since they mention in the movie that the doc and River have only been on the ship 8 months it puts a strain on the time line as i could see the first series easily covering this time period and to make more series within this time period would make them an awfully busy ship,Softball wrote:They could still do a series or another movie with Wash. They would just have to do prequels or in the meantimes before his demise.
But i suppose if your willing to ignore the time line thing, they could quite easily make more and just forget about the mention of the 8 months in the original film. I would quite happily overlook this is it meant that they would make another couple os series at least.
As for movies they could easily make more movies that would fit into this time period and still have the whole cast.

If another Firefly movie is made it will be direct to dvd because Serenity did not do that well at the box office and it only broke even with the dvd rentals and sales.
In other words, the vast majority of people who saw the film in the theater were fans who had already seen the show. People like me seemed to be a very rare case indeed. Very few "outsiders" bothered to watch it in the theater.
