Coming in early 2004: Novalogic's JOINT OPERATIONS

Post by Softball »

I wasn't aware of this game that Novalogic is working on. It uses the BHD game engine, and the game is being designed with MP in mind. Including CO-OP modes, WOO HOO! I'll be watching this one for sure, sounds great.

Here is the low down (See screenshots in reply below):

JOINT OPERATIONS™ TO SHIP IN EARLY 2004.

PC title Joint Operations™ has moved to early 2004.
Calabasas, CA — 8/4/2003 – Entertainment software developer and publisher NovaLogic, Inc. today announced that the US release of its new multiplayer PC title Joint Operations™ has moved to early 2004.

Set in Indonesia in the near future, Joint Operations takes the player to a country on the verge of disintegration. Regional independence movements have acquired advanced weaponry as the nation's military splits into competing factions. Escalating violence threatens innocent civilians and Western economic interests.

Joint Operations:

Fly helicopters, pilot boats, and drive fast attack vehicles as part of a skilled combat team, firing on the move.

Developed using the Black Hawk™ engine, Joint Operations promises superior rendering technology and an enhanced 3rd generation multiplayer experience.

Use LCAC's (Landing Craft Air Cushioned) or Chinook helicopters to transport teammates and vehicles from island to island or across expansive terrain for mass troop deployment.

Wage war with drivable modern combat vehicles and up to 64 players onlinevia the NovaWorld games service, or through LAN.

Play as either a member of the Joint Operations Force or an Indonesian Separatist, with a choice of weapons and vehicles at your disposal.

Realistic "super-foliated" maps. Travel on vehicles across vast terrains or use the dense jungle canopy for cover while on foot.

Numerous multiplayer game types including co-operative mode.

Take out targets and remove threats in single player mode while gaining valuable experience in vehicle control and weapons handling

Joint Operations will ship during Q1 2004 on PC CD ROM.

Is it too much to hope for SEAL underwater Ops?

SEAL ops

Well, you can go underwater in BHD, so I don't see why not.

This game sounds almost too good to be true. We'll see.

Yeah, and let's pray that the MP is glitch free and operates like Falcon 4 with the ability to re-enter the game.

MP

I am guessing that it will be more like OFP, GR, RvS, and the rest of the coop MP games, you can only join the game when the game is started. RvS is the only game that allows you to at least join a game and watch the action. If it does that, then that's good enough for me. And if it doesn't do that, oh well, hopefully the rest of the game makes up for it.

It almost sounds like Novalogic has been doing their homework and seeing what the community wants in games, like MP coop, the ability to drive various vehicles, etc... Hopefully you will be able to pickup and drop weapons too.
