Congrats steel!

what you need to do is bring the AMD mug out when the intel guy shows up so he gives you free stuff. then swap to a intel mug when the AMD guy shows up.... that way they feel they actualy convinced you to switch sides ;)

we used to do this to get free hats from lumber dilivery folks hehe.

i have been flaunting the amd mug to the intel folks for about that number of years i have had it. problem is that nowadays intel is killing amd in the performance area, and is much more consistent on new product quality. for example, amd relesed its quad core cpu's (dual and quad socket systems) and had to recall them and put out an errata as they were no good...took them 5+ months to fix. they will not be fully released until June...and they were supposed to be out Jan. plus, amd does not come around like intel does. we get a lot of support from intel...

to be honest. ive been considering going over to the darkside (intel) on my next major PC upgrade.. from what ive been hearing, they seem to run alot cooler and are more dependable. some guys have said even the fans are a bit quiter but who knows lol. for a long time it seemed like intell was alot more expensive then AMD but now they seem to be about the same. what have you seen and whats your opinion on all that?

I am not a fan of intel chipset motherboards , no idea why but still SWEET lol as those boards gettign good reviews and such still. That chip its the bigger brother of mine
I got a q9450 which is a 2.66 ghz with that beautiful quad core and 12mb l2 cashe yours is a 3ghz stock with same states but a 1000$ price tag as its in the Extreme series. Tho I think its over priced its still one hell of a dam chip and FREE = amazing. My system fly with the 45nm chip yours will be amazing. now do that board take dr2 or ddr3 ram ???

And BlackHawk I have been a amd man for MANY years my last intel was a pentium 120 mhz lol but amd just an't got it right now for performance.

But eitherway man thats a SWEET intels fastest 45nm quad core chip is just amazing. Now if you will be buying a new video card I will recommend holding off if passable, the 9800GTX is nothing more then the 8800GTS G92 cards overclocked. they do beat a 8800GTX a little but june/july time frame the real 9800 cards will be out with newer chipsets that should smoke the current stuff. Should also force the 9800GTX pricess down which is still a great card so hey just some info I picked up in my pc hunt.

One thing about that board it seems to be ATI Crossfire and Nvidia SLI compatible so you can get either companies GFX cards and run them together but then ATI/AMD are running behind on GFX chips as well as CPU chips so the choice of new system upgrades are simple at the moment Intel CPU and Nvidia GFX card.

Nice chip Steel PDT_Armataz_01_11 (Nem goes Green with envy) I won't be able to upgrade my main system till next year, when my wife will get a £2500/$5000 tax rebate and i will get half since we always combine our cash . So thats £1250/$2500 upgrade so i should be able to get a sweet system next year that will last me a good 3 years (I hope) but then she will get another tax return the following year, so no worries on the upgrade front for me while she has her present job and can claim tax back on the petrol she uses for work. PDT_Armataz_01_12

As she only started her new job two months ago she is only getting a £435/$850 tax break this year, but thats enough to get me a new monitor and another Gig of Ram (boosting me up to 2 Gigs) and i think i can squeeze in a new 2.1 Speaker system as well, Would go for 5.1 but since i do most of my gaming after 00:00 here, i cant use my mainspeakers most of the time as it would wake up the wife so 2.1 is good enough as she can listen to her downloaded music on it during the day.

Next year then i will need to get New CPU & Cooler, Motherboard, GFX card/s, Memory, Sata DVDRW Drive/s and whatever the best air cooled case is at the time, It's the Antec 900 at the moment but in 1 year a lot can change.

I already have the Antec true power Quatro 1000W PSU so don't need to worry about that, Keyboard and HOTAS are also fine, but might get a new mouse though. PDT_Armataz_01_18

Nice one Steel. Now if you can just find some time to take full advantage of that hardware in your gaming. LOL

exactly panzer...:)

i have a 7800gtx, no need to upgrade there. i doubt i will ever sli. too mch money for minimal gain that i don't need. i might at some point purchase a already sli'ed on one board graphics card, but only maybe. there are other things i would prefer to spend that money on, like my wife. :)

i am not sure if this can do sli. it might do only crossfire. no need anyway....
