Jedi just told me this info tonight. For those of you who are fans of the game, you've probably already heard that Madden will not be published for the PC anymore. Oh sure, EA says that they are considering redistributing there sports line to PC in the future in some sort of profitable form, but who knows when that will happen. Could be a year from now, could be never...most likely never.
Anyway, the reason why I like Madden for PC so much is because you can actually modified to play fairly realistically, given the constraints of the programming of course. Now that I may not be able to upgrade to the next rendition of Madden on PC, I was wondering if any of you have it for console. I know you can't mod it like you can the PC version, but does it allow you use "sliders" to adjust AI performance and what not? Or is it a pretty static game out of the box that does not allow you to modify it? Just weighing all my opitions before I decide what to do next.
For those interested: football-freaks.com pc community is modding 2008 to emulate 2009 features as much as possible, a sort of guerilla tactic to stick it to the man.
No Madden for PC

The console version has all the same in-gui settings (sliders for AI, penalties, accuracy, etc.) that the PC has. The only thing you wouldn't be able to do is download custom rosters. If I recal correctly, everytime I logged in, it downloaded the most current roster for online MP. You can create custom teams, ie, fantasy draft.
In my opinion, the console version has been of higher quality than the PC version for at least the last 2 iterations. I think the last time I played it on PC was Madden 06 or 07 and I hated it. Madden 08 was lots of fun on XBox360.
If you ask me -- and you did -- this is one of those franchises that we wish we could play on PC, but we should be thankful that they didn't just shovel some crap on to the disc for the PC.

I thought of some other things I wanted to add:
1) If you have a pc version of Madden that you enjoy and you can mod it so that you continue to enjoy it, stick with it.
2) Console Madden is not a good enough reason to buy a console. You need to look at the balance of games you like to play.
3) If you already had a console or had already decided to buy a console for it's other games/features, etc and you really wanted a modern madden, go for it.

Well, ya I'm probably going to stick with this version for a while, but I might swtich to x360 if I could get one cheap enough and run it off a computer monitor. You can actually get x360 online for downloading rosters and play mp huh? Hmm I keep forgetting that the console can do t hat. ah well, if someone throws a console at me, maybe I will get it.
