EA and DRM

Post by VEGETA »

well EA just became a no buy list companey for me.

spore 3 installs max, sorry not for me
Red alert 3 SWEEt I have been a big red alert fan, look samazing o look drm will have 5 installs MAX.
Crysis again will have some limiting drm form

EA has said they will have this kind or drm on all games for now on. UM ok so I could have dl spore 10 days before the game was released without drm WOW. But for multi player like I enjoy, I get shafted. Anyone else know good sites to to sign up petisions or somthing, e mails addresses da da da.

One I know of is MANY reviews on amazon of sport are 1 star citing the drm. Its a particialy cordinated attack/protest on the drm. Really EA an't my favorite company but there are some lucky/good games that get killed for us as o look new pc. O look reinstall because windiws crashed o look want to thats 3 installs there. Say my old pc I installed it, got this new one instal, o ya this one crashed in a few weeks fresh install tjhats 3 and every year or so I format to keep a clean system well spore screwed and red alert3 would have 1 inatall left at that point.

EA hasn't published any games that I was even remotely interested in recently and now this crap guarantees that they wont see another dollar from me.

well they an't had much I want tell this crysis and red alert 3 and then this arg.

crysis I can live without but god dam it to hell I REALY love red alert. tho its no longer west wood studios right its not like the first one or second red alert even which I believe was still westwood.

but they have the video clips even its one of the VERY few games I have done the single player campaign on. I am hopping to hell the spore bitching will get through EA's head. Seriousaly look at amazon reviews,. Now wonder what ebgames reviews are like lol

I'm trying to remember and I'm pretty sure the last EA game I bought was "Nascar Sim Racing" back in 2005.

well one issue is EA keeps buying many gaming company that made GOOD games again westwood for example, the companey that made that bioshock game, da da da. Then turn out crap knowing on the name of game it will sell anyway. I am looking forward to the red alers but dam it 5 installs they must be on crack. Then ther eis the authentication setuo required, ok 5 years down road I want to install game again and play, o look there authentication server gone. Why on earth should I not start pirating games if the game companeys make me pay 50$ for a broken game.

I'm lucky in that many of the games I like to play (hardcore naval and flight sims), EA has zero interest in publishing. Now if Ubisoft starts doing this DRM crap then I'm in big trouble.

Well stragity and fps is where ea got me.

also I admit they have come out with some nice WII games but in console the drm issue seams a lot less of a issue.

Spore is a huge problem for EA. We'll see how that turns out.

The DRM and the fact that the DRM makes the game not work on some machines. The entire Spore situation is a huge problem for EA.

I recall when Ubisoft had a big backlash against starforce DRM from some game, they have stayed away from the worst kinds of DRM since then. Perhaps EA needs to learn the lesson that Ubi did.

well there response to the backlash has been 5 installs on red alert vs 3 of spore. But even witht he amazon campanie that's got spore rated as more or less CRAP they still an't lissining. Hopping that hits ther epocketbooks enough. But the sad part is people just buy games and don't look this crap up and get screwed by it.

I'm sorry but if I pay for a game, I am entitled to reinstall it as many times as I please.

Let me see if I am following this correctly (since I am not following anything else right now). DRM for downloadable software right and they are only giving you 5 downloads plus authentication to a server everytime you play the game or do online stuff. Why not go out and by the game in a damn store instead of download?

nope not at all

If I BUY a copy n a store bring it home max alowed isntalls of spore is 3 max for red alert is 5. IE don't remove it, don't crash, don't change hardware and o ya the games also on first isntall authenticate with ea. So in 5 years ea decideds to take away that authentication server o ya you may have 2 more installs left you you can't authenticate it after the install

basiclay you do't own a copy of the game you have 50$ rental argement now with which you have no clue when the can't use it date is

I agree with Panzer. If I buy a copy of the game I should be able to reinstall it as many times as I please. This is just ridiculous. EA won't see my money again. They don't have any games I want and Madden 2009 is not being released for the PC. No point. They should just become a console company at this point. Leave PC gaming to companies that are committed to the market.
