What did you all get for Christmas?

Post by Softball »

My surprise gift this year was an acoustic guitar. I had been hinting that I wanted to get a guitar and learn how to play, and wouldn't you know it I get one for Christmas. I'll post pictures later, but it's a basic acoustic guitar: six strings, wood grain, beige face, and mahogany brown sides.

After 2 days of reading and practicing, I have the 9 basic chords down (A Major, A Minor, C Major, D Major, D Minor, E Major, E Minor, F Major, and G Major). I'll say this, my fingers are SORE and the "F" Chord is a BITCH to play. I guess it's called the "F" chord for a reason, lol.

I'm taking my time learning and practicing every day until I can memorize the 9 basic chords without looking at a book. I'm really enjoying this so far, I never knew it could be so fun learning to play and hearing everything come together.

So, what did you all get?

Clothes.

You need to callous your fingertips. Like exercise, you should do a day on, a day off. That will give your fingertips time to heal in between sessions and developa leathery tough surface; soon it won't hurt to play. F chords suck, but the instrument is elegantly diverse and I believe you can bar the F chord later on when you learn to "bar" chords. So don't fret, excuse the pun, if you never quite get the hang of a traditional F chord; they are a pain.

Also got myself on boxing day my 46" samsung tv as well as a upconverting dvd player and a wireless keyboard to go with it. All on sale for boxing day. 4:30 am in line at best buy I was # 160 ish in line by guy who was doing counts. by 6 am just before they let us in he said that there was 1600 people in line WOOOO. And ust admit it was very orginized by the bestbuy crew, guessing they do not want a lawsuit

There was a blueray player there for 100$ but it was a older blueray format which when I checked can't use most of the features of the darn blueray disks, play movie but thats about it. This is why I hate the blueray the format is still not finalized.
