Psssshh, I have lived in San Diego for 39 years, and not once have I been worried about an earthquake. I have been in 10+ earthquakes, but I wasn't near any of the major ones. (San Fransisco, Los Angeles) I'll be leaving Cali in about 2 years, so no worries. :)

I think he's busy right now adding a new wing to his eco-friendly mansion.

Ya Chicago if I remember right is further north then toronto or brity dam close to the same. and further inland by what a 8 hr drive.

Friend of mine is headed to Edmonton as of yesterday for a 2 year job. Out there when you park your car, you plug it in, malls and all that have outlets at all parking spots for plugging in so the engine block don't freeze.

It's very, very cold here in MA this winter though not nearly as cold as some other places you've mentioned. Avg is about 23F during day w/single digits at night and lots of snow, even here on the south shore. It feels much colder, but then I'm probably just getting old. When I lived in North Adams, the most western and northern city in the state, we would get -25 days and I don't recall feeling this cold.
