Looking to get in shape?

Post by Grifter »

fitday.com to record your caloric intake and workout regimen. I've been averaging 1600 to 2000 cals a day with a 3,000 minimum cal burn. Lost ten pounds. Just eating right, avoiding the booze throughout most of the week, and working out 4-6 times a week.

Eat fiber/protein based breakfast
Vegetable/fruit lunch (spinach salad, yogurt, fruit, roast beef sandwich with lettuce, sushi, whatever floats your boat).
Balanced dinner, but this is where I'll spend my calories for the day since dinner is my favorite meal.

Workout is 40=60 minutes on eliptical machine
Light weight routine for tone, muscle development: bench press, curls, etc.
150 sit-ups with medicine ball.
Karate Katas if there is time and I'm in the mood to work on body conditioning and form.

I'd like to lose about 20 lbs and I'll be satisfied.

same. I forgot to mention that I'm substituting some meals or offsetting my portions at the very least with a protein fruit smoothie. Sounds gay I know, but it's essentially a blend of banana, strawberry, orange juice, acai berry, and whey protein supplement or some similar blend using yogurt or milk.

i lost 25 pounds in the last 4-5 months by watching portion sizes and working out (only started working out 2 months ago).

i am down to 158-160 and now starting to bulk up - my workouts are mostly weights.

That's what I'm hoping to do. If I can drop about 20-25 pounds, I should be good. Portion sizes are key.

I lost ten pounds last year.

Then I found it again, at Kroger, in the chip aisle.

Man you guys would never believe my weight but I don't really look it. 285 pounds. I need to loose about 75 pounds before I feel right again. Its time cause I'm not getting any younger.

How tall are you DA? I'm 6"1 and 235 lbs with medium frame. Most people who know me describe me as "stocky". I guess that's better than "fat". LOL

I am 5'9" stocky actually. I played all kinds of sports so I don't look to bad. I'm not like the blob or anything looking like I sucked the meat off the bone of a cow no.

My gosh ,… am I talking to a bunch of fat guys….

Lol I’m just kidding so don’t get on your high horse. Hehe… I’m 5’11 and weigh 194. I was up to 205 last year. The Most I weighed was 235 about 15 years ago when I kept eating to make my pregnant girlfriend feel better.

I’ve been going to the GYM for almost 5 years now , working out about 2 or 3 times a week. Sometimes only once a week. Sometimes 15 to 20 minutes is better than nothing. I’m not big , but I would like to think that I am keeping fit.

Actually I have to go the gym to work out my knees before they start cracking and giving me a pain. While I’m there I’ll spread my way around and work out my legs , shoulders and chest. It really makes a difference! I feel better when I’m pumped up leaving the gym and I know for a fact that my shoulders are broader and my knees aren’t in pain any more.

In conclusion , I haft to go to the gym mostly for my knees. While I’m there I’ll trade of on other machines to improve my upper body. It shows. I get a lot of looks from the average cashier woman who’s checking out my groceries and me as well.

Unless your "salads" have stuff in them like cottage cheese, cheddar cheese, eggs, Ranch or Bleu cheese dressing, croutons, etc, etc.

Actually, the diet I was on a couple of years ago included small portions of Motzerella cheese and cottage cheese. So cheese isn't all that bad.

True, cheese is all protein and almost no carbs so you do have a point!

I would love to have a set of waights at home but hell lucky I can find room to hand a jacket my place is that packet. Next year I get my own house then spare bedroom gets one lol. But I should start using the gym at the office, we have a nice one and it is literally a elevator ride away lol.

Here's a thought. Take the stairs to the gym!

Even though I'm averaging 1,500 cals per day, work out 40-45 minutes about 4-6 days per week, and eat right overall (cut back on the booze, salty/sweets). I'm not dropping any weight. It's only been three or four weeks. Am I doing not doing something I should? hmm.
