iPod FM transmitter

Post by Grifter »

For those of us who can't afford to put a new radio in their car, I've found that this one really works well.

If you are fortunate enough to have an iPhone or iPod Touch, you can DL many FM Apps that allows you to listen to radio programming around the world. The FM transmitter you listed looks nice, it looks a lot like the blue tooth adapter I have for my iPod Video.

I have a combo charger/fm transmitter for my I-Pod but to be honest, I've only used the charger since I really dont listen to the radio. All the music I like is already on my I-Pod and I cant stand radio talk shows.

No no no. This component transmits your iPod music through your radio like a glorified Mr. Microphone. Simply hook this up to your ipod, dial in a 87.9 and set component to LX and you get a relatively good quality signal. Whatever your iPod is playing comes through your car stereo speakers. 15 bucks.

These come in many different styles, but the ones that charge while they transmit tend not to work as well because of the interference. Also, some argue that the ones that charge take a toll on your lithium batteries in the iPod, but I don't know if that part is true. I do know that charging the iPod while transmitting does cause interference.

I had one of those, but in my area, suburban DC, I could never get it to work well. Our FM spectrum is toooooo dense here.
