72 year old woman tasered
The officer was apparently following policy on the use of a taser, but I think he could have muscled her to the ground and handcuffed her. I know I wasn't there, and I'm not against law enforcement, but seriously...

She was being confrontational with the officer and not following his instructions so it was justified IMHO.

Yea, I can understand that they were on a busy highway, and that could have been a very dangerous situation had she or the officer gone into the roadway.
To me, it just seems like he could have used his hand to hand combat training (All police officers get hand to hand training for detaining and arresting suspects) to subdue the woman. You'll notice he rather easily pushed the woman away from the road, and that is when she kind of got up in his face. He was much larger and most likely much stronger than her, so I just don't understand why the taser was his first choice. How about Mace or maybe taking her to the ground away from the traffic and getting her under control?
I'm not against what the cop did, I am just saying that he had other options. *shrug*

An unfortunate incident, but the lady should have signed the ticket.

Did we look at two different video's or something. After she was forced out of her vehicle and I am guessing realizing the situation she said she would sign it and he got in her face screaming at her like she was in bootcamp and he was her drill instructor, before he pushed her she did not show aggression toward him but when he did I think she had every right to confront him since he went from being a police officer to being an attacker of sorts, remember she is 73 and he was a little rougher than needed to be.
Also they said he pushed her to get them both out of oncoming traffic when a simple gesture and command to move further into the side of the road or he himself could have moved 180 degree's around her forcing her to follow him by turning and keeping him in her line of sight (which is an automate survival technique when face to face in a confrontation).
His first mistake was loosing his cool very quickly and proceeding to have her exit the vehicle. I don't know about Texas but in Illinois when a male police officer is dealing with a female in a vehicle that he has stopped and he needs to get her out he needs to first call for backup specifically requesting a female police officer.
IMHO the moment he got her to step out the car it went down hill for him and now he will ultimately face some charges and a civil suit, atleast he should from what I witnessed in the video.
By the way she is on the ground screaming in pain and he is still trying to give her commands that most people younger and healthier than her would have some problems trying obey. I'm sure he tasered her again after she did not comply.

I agree with the police's point of view. She goaded him into arresting her. People don't understand that once the officer commits to arrest and has you step out of the car, they cannot turnaround and change their minds and let you get away with it. It's bad police work and it sets a bad precedent if they do. The woman then goaded him to tase her and she refused the directives of an officer. You know if an officer shoves you, you'd be smart to do as your told and deescalate the sitation. You can scream police brutality in court later. I got no pity for this woman. She's a liar and she's an idiot.
Well, Personally, IMHO there is no such thing as a sweet little old lady when it come to traffic incidents. I have come into contact with these "innocent sweet things" on the road and they tried to con me and my wife that "I'm just a sweet little old lady and there wasn't much damage, and i didn't mean it, let's just forget about the fact i rammed your car while reversing at speed! You don't need my insurance details!" Yea right!
Unfortunately my Wife who was driving or should i say sitting completely stationary in a super market Carpark When little Ms Doubtfire reversed into us from over fifty yards away! Fell for the old lady routine and let her away with it.
She gave our car a damm good smack hitting our front bumper, which took the impact really well and only had a scratch (we have one of the old style plastic bumber with steel plate behind it not these new fangled pedestrian friendly smash to bits as soon as look at it bumber", but i was more worried about the fact she could have damaged something we could not see behind the bumber, but my wife fell for the routine and i got a knowing "F**K you smile from the little old witch" when my wife said no it's ok just leave it.
She knew she was in the wrong and knew how to play the old lady card well, and she isn't the first one i have come across that knew they could try that routine.
The lady in the video clearly thought that she could get away with doing wrong just because as she put before she even got out her car "you'd arrest a 72 year old!" Plus she was clearly aggressive before the Officer shoved her.
The Officer opens the Door after she refused to sign the ticket Cause she was 72 years old! then on reaching the back of her car she does not clamly say ok i will sign the ticket, but says ok give me the ******* ticket and i'll sign it! Then the Officer shouts at her to "GET OFF THE ROAD NOW!" note no swearing from him, She replies" Damm it give me it and i'll sign it!" The the officer then shoves the woman back off the road. You will note that his shove is not a quick shove that just hits her and she reels back from, but is a constant contact shove forcing her back, so in my mind it is more of a continuous controlling shove than a quick hitting push that makes her move back.
She then gets back on the OH You'd do that to a 72 year old track and is aggresively confrontational continiously from then, right through the 5! YES 5! warning she gets about calming down and gettting into the side of the road or she will get tazered.
She deserved all she got, no questions about it. The officer shouted at her after she has refused to sign his ticket and then sworn at him twice. Then he shoves her back off the road she gets more aggresive and does not stop until she gets Zapped.
