When Applying for a New Job...

Post by Tach Deneva »

Yesterday I picked up an application for employment at a local business. This morning I went back to turn it in, and as I was handing it over I realized my shirt was inside-out.

Moral: the tag goes on the inside.

Today I went in for a job interview. It was going pretty well, then the lady said, "So, what qualities do you possess that would make you a good employee here?"

I said, "Uh, well, I'm, uh, honest. I'll do the job. And... uh... (in a just kidding tone of voice) I'm really humble."

She wrote down "HUMBLE."

I can see it now:

HR1: "Ya know, I'm tired of hiring all these cocky bastards."

HR2: "Yah. Hey! Looka this guy! He's HUMBLE!"

Together: "Hire him!"

I'm not picky. :D

Another data entry type job would be ideal, though. There's a small business college just up the street, and I was thinking about taking a medical transcription course (cuz the wackos at the local hospital like those lil pieces of paper saying, 'yup, he can do that') but danged if they hadn't just dropped that course. Said it wasn't in demand anymore. Hah. Everything I've found indicates it's a growing field - and there are JOB OPENINGS RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW for medical transcribers (if ya got one of those lil pieces of paper). Also lots of jobs available for phlebotomists, but eww.

With this current economy, no one can be picky really.

Well if you're really struggling to find work, perhaps a temp to hire would be ideal.

That's what this was. :D

It's starting to look like I'll be going back to teaching guitar. A friend just opened a new music store here, so...
