I have downloaded it and started to play. So far I have played just
a little bit, and it's not too bad and it's free to play. If anyone else is going to play let's all try it out together.

I've got a Paladin/Tank type of char. I think SB was going ranger/archer. Ghost had a conan-looking guy.

I got some info from a friend of mine:

"I know a guy that works for Turbine and he says if you're going to play you should roll on the server named "Cannith", as its new and the hardware is faster."

Not sure if anyone wants to re-roll on the better hardware server, but I just thought I would pass on the info.

I made a new tank type character (on our current server), a Female (Red hair) Halfling Fighter, Stalwart Soldier. Her name is "Briienne the Beauty" She is pretty bad ass so far, I completed the same missions we did in "Normal" mode, plus a couple of the next few missions.

After playing through the free DDO game, I figured out how it differs from Stormreach (Paid version). When I first played the original Stormreach game, the same areas that we played were more spread out within the city of Stormreach. With the free DDO, the areas are all combined into a smaller centralized area (The village). I also noticed that the experience bar says that the maximum level that we can reach with the Free DDO is level 4. So with the 4 tiers of leveling per character level, that gives everyone 16 tiers (4 x 4)of leveling. I'm not sure what will happen once we reach Level 4, but I hope it doesn't make you pay for moving to the next level. I am liking it so far, it was pretty fun with Ghost, Gator and myself the other night.

I'm not sure how much an issue "server speed" is ... I don't mind making a new char, but I don't think I'd enjoy playing the same missions over.

That's fine, I just wanted to throw that out there.

BTW, I renewed my subscription account for a month ($14.99);I want to see if my Paladin is still on my account and see if there is any other differences between the paid version and the free version.

only 4 levels? a bit disappointing. seems like a way to sucker you in for money - i am not so tempted now.

what is 4 tiers per level though? can someone explain?

it actually makes it like 25 levels or so ... 4 stages to level 2, 4 more to level 3, 4 more to level 4 ... I know that math doesn't add up, but I recall seeing it listed as about 25 stages ... each stage is probably 3 or so quests (at least in the early going ... not sure how it scales).

The tiers/stages are kind of like mini levels. When you get 4 stages of XP, you gain 1 level. So, 4 stages (4 full bars of XP) = 1 Level. During the stages you earn action points which you can either save or use to add new skills to your character from the Class trainer.
