IMHO, lesson in American economics:
G2i paid for the rights to F4 plus had an agreement with F4UT for continued work on code. They have every right (and obligation to their investors) to enforce their agreement and pursue profit in return for their business risk.
Just because some fools chose to work for free (NOT slavery as described in one of the forum posts) and just because myself and a lot of other F4 fans want something for nothing does NOT justify the whining and bitching. I respect the right to whine and bitch - I just don't respect the basis for the whining and bitching. Buy F4 Gold or not - that is also your right. I will choose to buy it in the hopes that it is a worthwhile program and in the hopes that it will support more flight sim development.
