Can you have 2 different versions of TS installed at the same time? SimHQ still uses TS 2. What's the reason for the upgrade?

I believe having multiple versions of TS is doable, you have to jump thru a hoop or 2 but you can do it.

I'd support going to TS3, its usually lighter on the bandwidth than Vent. and IIRC is still free for Hammer to host with.

it is still free. TS3 has a plugin sdk, and there is an arma 2 mod that works with it.

i think you can do both versions, any reason SimHQ has not switched to TS3?

o.k. - TS3 server up and running. look in the servers forum for info, in the voice communication thread. if you can not see that forum, send me a PM - it is a group permissions issue.

once people start connecting i think i will be able to set up server and channel admins. i have to read/study the new permission system.

i would like to see if everyone will commit to using this new server. if things work well i will decommission the ventrilo server (eventually). so if/when you post about game time, put which voice comm system to meet on as well.

download the latest teamspeak 3 client here:

Hammer, it worked like a charm, looks good to go. Have to figure out all the bells and whistles but over all I liked it.
The ability to set individual volume settings is really cool.....we should call it the Panzer button =)....no more blowing my speakers out lol

Thanks for setting that up

I'd say come on over. People will want to try it out 1st and they can make their own decision. Hondo was still having issues but I think thats an issue with his Rube Goldberg internet connection.

All in all I think TS3 sounds better then vent. I wish the mic clicks were a little louder but it all seemed to work well.

been thinking about that, if its a wave file it uses we can just replace it with a louder file.

I guess I've never used mic clicks. What does a mic click do? Is it an audio cue that lets you know you've keyed your mic?

yes....Vent IIRC was built or something way back when off Roger Wilco, which had a "mic click" when you keyed up. I'm just used to the clicks, and miss the rhythm they impart is all.........

Ok you want to change to the vint clicks go here first. there are 4 fiels, 2 for off and 2 for on.

D:\Program Files\TeamSpeak 3 Client\sound

copy form the vint folder
C:\Program Files\Ventrilo

Take the 2 sound files there MicKeyDown and MicKeyUp

make 2 copies of the files

MicKeyDown 2 copyes rename to mic_click_other_on the other mic_click_self_on.

MicKeyUp rename to mic_click_other_off the other mic_click_self_off

Replae the 4 files in D:\Program Files\TeamSpeak 3 Client\sound with the 4 newley named files and have fun

I like the mic clicks, as some games crap out in Ventrilo and the mic clicks let me know my Ventrilo is still working.

Thanks for that info Veg.
