I started watching the pilot episode of ST: Next Generation last night and what struck me is just how young everyone looked! Yeah, I know the pilot is from 1987 but I guess it's amazing to me that is now 23 years ago!
A few observations,
1. Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner seemed confident in their roles from the very start.
2. The scene between Data and McCoy was very short but also great.
3. Riker just looks so odd to me without any facial hair.
4. Is it just me or did Troi's odd Eastern European accent seem more exaggerated in the early days? I dont recall her accent being so strong in the TNG films.

Re: ST: Next Generation
I will say that the meeting between Data and McCoy happens to be one of my all time favorite scenes in all of Star Trekdom. It was a pivotal passing of the torch that was definitely needed at the time.
Other favorite scenes include Picard meeting Kirk and DS9's visit to a Tribbled TOS Enterprise, especially Sisko getting Kirk's autograph.

Trois accent is not Eastern european but pure British! You be suprised just how many different accents there are in Britian for such a small country.
