Historical Figures on Film

Post by PanzerMeyer »

What are some historical figures portrayed on film that you will always associate with a single actor or actress? You basically found the performance so compelling that it's hard for you to separate the real person from the actor/actress. Here are a few of mine,

George Patton - George C Scott
Elizabeth I - Kate Blanchett
Stonewall Jackson - Stephen Lang
John Adams - Paul Giamatti
Adolf Hitler - Bruno Ganz
Winston Churchill - Brendan Gleeson
Ivan IV (The Terrible) - Nikolai Cherkasov
Bernard Montgomery - Michael Bates
Omar Bradley - Karl Malden
W.A. Mozart - Tom Hulce
Richard Wagner - Richard Burton
TE Lawrence - Peter O'Toole
Henry II - Peter O'Toole
Henry V - Kenneth Brannagh
Julius Caesar - Ciaran Hinds
I have learned from experience that a modicum of snuff can be most efficacious - Baron Munchausen

I don't know, I prefer Martin Wuttke's Hitler, as over the top as it was, it was still awesome.
