Yeppers, DLing as I type this. Been a bit of a PITA to get the DL started. Kept giving random errors, "Can't write to xxxx.temp" and such. Re-DLed the launcher and the game is DLing/Installing, so far so good. Looking forward to playing for sure.

Wow, the rating for this game at Amazon is 2.4 of 5 stars, with 203 people giving it 5 stars but 381 giving it only 1 star.

“Owned the game for 12 hours, played for 5 minutes.” MartyJP | 130 reviewers made a similar statement
“Do NOT buy this game if you actually want to play on your terms.” P. F. Hornsby | 110 reviewers made a similar statement
“With all of the beta testing going on, you would think Blizzard would have a functional game.” Adam Gothard | 99 reviewers made a similar statement

One guy says, "Gone are the days when people could buy a game, install it, and play the single player mode. Diablo 3 requires internet connection to play. Just like World of Warcraft and Starcraft 2, Diablo 3 will have maintenance 'down time' every week during which players won't be allowed to play. Diablo 3 is also going through a pathetic launch where 80% of people who purchased the game cannot even log on."

Have you guys played it yet?

Edit, so as to not be all DooOoooOOom: some positive reviews --

"Just started Act III, so far the game mechanics, cinema scenes, and classes are all top notch. Some server issues on day one with over 4 million people trying to log in at once. But since then the game has been running smoothly."

"This game is a satisfying sequel! Those who are griping about launch issues or DRM should get over it. This game rocks. I love it and highly recommend it. It is a gorgeous game and runs very smoothly. I was up and running at 8:00pm on launch day without a single issue. Go figure."

"Diablo 3 is a great follow up in the series. The overall gameplay is spot on and the story is overall solid. If you've played a Diablo game (or any action-rpg for that matter) you have a general idea of what you're getting into here, and in those terms what it does it does well."

Could be just a bunch of people got pissed that they couldnt log in last night. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. I'll see for myself later tonight.

I played for about 1 1/2 hours today, pretty good so far. Graphically beautiful, and running very smooth for me. Every now and then I'll get a pause in the game, but I think it's lag related (My router has been having issues). I am playing as a Witch Doctor named Vixen, but I probably should have picked a more "Jamaican" sounding name as that's what he reminds me of when he talks in game, lol.

So far my only issue with the game is that you can ONLY play through the Blizzard servers. There is no true "off-line" game play; it's more like a free-to-play MMORPG. And I haven't tried MP yet, but I've heard that you can only have 4 players in a group. Seems like a standard these days, but only 4 players is a bit of a let down.

I'll get some more game time tomorrow and will report back. I'm hoping to get some MP in.

i played with a co-worker last night for a couple hours. we experienced a little bit of lag. he had a lvl 10 barbarian and i had a lvl5 mage. (bad idea for me to tag along) i'd start running away from mobs with a decent distance but next thing i know they'd be right next to me. it was still playable though. we ended up making new chars and started a new campaign so we'd level at the same time.

so far, good graphics, npc dialogue, and storyline. i do agree with softball. i wish there was offline play.
