callsigns
post your callsigns here. i do not know mine yet (yes, I will try an MMO if I do not have to pay).
so if our callsign is taken, what are we going to do?
use RLG-callsign?
callsign-RLG?
i would like to standardize. or is the callsign actually your username and what appears in game is different?

Re: callsigns
I'm signed up as Oshay, but I'm probably going to join an actual unit, see if I can get into the equivalent of whatever ends up being set up as a league like TFS and the other ones we used to play in.
Re: callsigns
OK - but for instance Hammer is, of course, already taken.
so just make something up, or use RLG in it somewhere?
is this what actually shows up in game? or is it just a login and forum thing?

Re: callsigns
To be completely candid, Hammer, I'm not entirely sure. All I can make are assumptions, based upon what I've seen in the few gameplay videos they've released, but I'm pretty sure the name you type is for your pilot, and for the forums, and that's the name you have, so if you put RLG, it will have RLG in the name and on the forums.

Re: callsigns
The Secret World has a 'reserve your name' thing for people who have pre-ordered. The name you are reserving is the 'nickname' of your character and is unique to that character, identifying him in the game. There can be any number of John Does, for example, so long as each John Doe has a different 'nickname' --
John "Hammer" Doe
John "Oshay" Doe
John "Vegeta" Doe
The nickname is what shows up on your 'select a character' screen, in chat/tells, and on your friends' friend list. During the weekend betas, I had three characters. Their unique nicknames were: Rosewine, Sunstroke, and Anjin. The only one who's first and last names I remember is Sunstroke - she was Fujiko "Sunstroke" Montoya. I rerolled Anjin several times - he had different first and last names every time.
So, if John "Hammer" Doe and John "Oshay" Doe and John "Vegeta" Doe were playing at the same time on the same server and somehow managed to be all on the same team, team chat might look like this:
Hammer: Veg, please don't attack another group til we're finished with the one we're already fighting!
Oshay: Veg, break the window before you throw the grenade!
Vegeta: asualt riffel is sew cule!
So, given that MWO has the 'reserve your callsign" thing, it might be like that. Alternately, the callsign being reserved might not be for an individual character, but might be a universal callsign like the @handle in Star Trek Online, where, for example, you could have --
John Doe@Hammer
John Doe@Oshay
Jhon Doe@Vegeta
-- and every character you create would have the same @handle. Examples:
Jane Doe@Hammer
Jane Doe@Oshay
Jane Deo@Vegeta
Anyway, you might poke around on the MWO forums, it might all be explained there.

Okay, did a little poking around on the MWO site and it looks like the name you chose is your pilot's name (evidently you only have that ONE pilot - and you'll never see him outside of his mech) and your pilot will be able to obtain various mechs as you play/gain experience/c-bills/whatever, each of which you can give a nickname.
So, my name in the game (and on the forums) is Shakalaka and I can theoretically have a bunch of mechs at my disposal including but not limited to a Dragon named George and a Hunchback named Eye-gor and a Trebuchet named Mister Missiles.
Maybe.

There's always putting the Slam back in Slamhammer.
Stay off the MWO forums, you'll just get depressed. if I see one more banner for the Eridani Light Ponies, I'm going to fucking barf.
I blame metrosexualism for all this brony crap.

Re: callsigns
OK then. how about we start a new unit - Hammer's Slammers? ;)
I am sure Slamhammer will show back up for this.

Re: callsigns
Actually there is. Someone can make a group, and can invite people off there friends list. Then the group can drop as a pre made. Tho helps if we are all on team speak.Hammer wrote:check your friend requests people.

Re: callsigns
well, teamspeak is up and running (there is even a channel now). it looks like a 3rd party thing for creating a group? anyone want to create one so we can see how it works?

Re: callsigns
OK - I tried adding everyone again except Oshay who accepeted my request. failed. so I am guessing that the invites are still pending.
