Registrations

Post by Hammer »

I have turned off user registrations temporarily.

I had over 90 spam accounts registered and awaiting admin activation overnight.

If anyone knows someone we want to get in as a user, let me know and I will set up manually.

I will post again once the registration has been re-opened.

I have also enabled a setting to check blacklists for users connecting and posting. It may slow things a bit at times, and I need to know if anyone gets false positives. I.e. if you get blocked and should not be I need to know. Hopefully this settings does not just block you and you cannot even read this!

I have no trouble getting on obviously.
I shouted our website a few times in game chat.
Some of those might be legit requests to join.
There's no private chat yet so I'll stop till they have it...assuming they do.
So...do as I say not as I do. lol. Don't shout out our website in game.

OK, tried a couple of different tools. got one installed that seems acceptable. in the first 5 minutes it blocked 5 registrations attempts. nice. so registrations are enabled again and we will see how this goes. i might be able to turn email activation back on.
