This past Sat. was the 2013 Tour de Cure raising money for the American Diabetes Association. I made my goal in fundraising and actually surpassed it at just over $1200. Our Team Red (riders and supporters of people with diabetes) raised over $27,000 and in total the event raised over $162,000. It was a great success!
I rode in the 25 mile ride. It would have been a great ride except for one thing......WIND! Blowing steady at 25 mph gusting to 37 mph. The times going into that head wind, and there were several, for miles and miles was brutal! And lets just say I have the aero characteristics of a washing machine......not fun. But I made it, 2 hours and 50 mins. About an hour longer than I'd have liked. Thank gosh for a light ass bike, my Specialized Roubaix performed well. Heck in the areas with the cross wind, you had to ride leaning into the wind to keep going straight!
A few pics of the event.....I'm the one who looks like Grizzly Adams on a bike lol

first off CONGRATS man on raising the funds and the ride. So next thought, whats next ??? any other events or just fun riding for rest of summer.
and even on motorcycle I know the fun of head and side winds. side winds on motorcycle are the worst.

Cool. Darn, it's been over 10 years since I was on a bike. Not since I moved into this house. This street I live on now... heck, it's dangerous in a car. I've had people pass me on the right - when I was signalling that I was making a right turn!
Anyway, gratz Buff!
