I got a new vendor present to play with. Running some benchmarks now.
Gigabyte GTX780 OC version
3DMark Firestrike (DX11): 9130 (better than 78% of all results), graphics 10704, physics 9318, combined 4282
Unigine Heaven (DX11)(Extreme preset)(1920x1080, 8xAA): 1416, FPS 56.2, min FPS 21.2, max FPS 116.4
Unigine Heaven (DX11)(Extreme preset)(2560x1440, 8xAA): 885, FPS 35.1, min FPS 13.9, max FPS 72.5
Unigine Valley (DX11)(Extreme preset)(1920x1080, 8xAA): 2742, FPS 65.5, min FPS 24, max FPS 125.5
Unigine Valley (DX11)(Extreme preset)(2560x1440, 8xAA): 1644, FPS 39.4, min FPS 22.1, max FPS 71.7

Re: R9 Fury Nano
now the new toy, a 150W card vs. a 225W card above (big issue for me is heat production in my loft)
Sapphire R9 Fury Nano, default settings
3DMark Firestrike (DX11): 11312 (better than 88% of all results), graphics 13747, physics 10348, combined 5169
Unigine Heaven (DX11)(Extreme preset)(1920x1080, 8xAA): 1517, FPS 60.2, min FPS 10.6, max FPS 126
Unigine Heaven (DX11)(Extreme preset)(2560x1440, 8xAA): 980, FPS 38.9, min FPS 12.2, max FPS 72.8
Unigine Valley (DX11)(Extreme preset)(1920x1080, 8xAA): 2839, FPS 67.9, min FPS 22.7, max FPS 130.7
Unigine Valley (DX11)(Extreme preset)(2560x1440, 8xAA): 1796, FPS 42.9, min FPS 16.8, max FPS 81
I say default settings because the AMD cards have the capability to overdrive power consumption and gpu clock as well as tune the fan % t keep the gpu at or below a max temp (if you try to exceed that temp, it will not do it and limit performance).
I might try some overclocking when I have time, but right now I like the better performance with way less heat.
One other point about this card is while it is double slot it is half length, compared to most high performance cards that are full length plus.
The downside to this card is that it is $600 plus, and only a little better than the GTX 780 OC card that is probably very cheap right now.
