release or openbeta

Post by Hammer »

Should we go release or openbeta?

openbeta give us the latest features after they have been through alpha. most of the time things work. i think it is rare that something gets borked so badly you cannot use an aircraft of feature.

release is stable, supposedly. i am not sure if it is more stable than openbeta, and features are definitely behind open beta. new aircraft must be flown in openbeta unless you want to wait weeks (is that correct?). even features that were in openbeta and were broken get pushed into release.

my opinion is openbeta, given the upcoming f-16.

So the real question is how far behind the beta is the official release? Personally I prefer the official release because it’s the most stable product and I don’t want two installs on my HD. But if everyone wants to do the beta, that’s fine.

i am actually not convinced it is the most stable of the two. ED has actually pushed non-working features that were discovered in open beta into the release version.

i think it varies on the feature as to how far behind it is.
