Ok the supposed reference card I got from UBI sucks big wind, I guess I can say gaydar multiple contacts looks like heavies. So does anyone have a keyboard map layout or did UBI forget this one.

Now as I have dived deeper into the trainning sessions provided ummmmm you really do need the manual(hard copy hopefully and not the pdf version) and what they give(in the pdf) is really a theory on flight, combat tactics and radar characteristics and stats, but not how to actually use the bugger in the game.

Scenario: I have two SU-27 head on about 20km(that in itself drove me crazy, converting km to miles) out and I can't figure out for the life of me because I missed something in the trainning exercise how to lock up multiple targets, so non the less I was eliminated by the second 27 while trying to take down the first. I know I know I should have taken better care not to lose sight, but I it seems to me the tutorials specified that you must wait for target kill when in STT mode before moving onto the next threat.
So Nemisis is this a true keycard with keyboard mapping or is it just hype.
Right now I do not have internet access at home, blame SBC formally Ameritech for this so I can't ICQ until I am at work and right now your probably sleep on the British Iles, Oh aren't you in Scotland and I didn't know they were under Tony Blair and the Brits rule.

I need help!

DA you can shoot down about 4 targets at the one time with this sim in the F-15.

Due to the realist use of the Aim-120, you need to be in TWS mode and have the AIM-120 selected and in the TWS mode the radar will number the targets that it has picked up firing off 4 Aim-120's in this mode at 4 inbound targets will send one missile to each of the targets getting tracked!

The AIM-120 does this in real life and this mode was available in Janes f/18 but not in Falcon (i am pretty sure it wasn't in Falcon, correct me if i am wrong guys) In falcon you had to leave the radar locked onto one target in TWS mode until you got the PitBull call which indicated the missile had locked onto the target with it's own onboard radar leaving you free to select the next target and fire on it!

The keychart is just a list of which key does what, it is not a keyboard map! but would still be handy to print out and stick onto the side of your monitor or just put it on the desk or whatever when playing Lomac as a quick referance until you get to know the commands by heart.

On other news Nic Cole the author of the third Party Leather (Leather imitation) bound manual has stated on the forums today that his present budget has 1$ available in it and has said that to use this free $1 up if the people buying and those that have already bought the manual would like to have either a full laminated keychart that fits in the manual or a Lomac mouse mat added to the package!!

I have stated that the mouse mat would probably be the better option and is my choice, since a key chart is only usefull till you have learned the commands by heart or have programmed them into your HOTAS if you have one, at which point it becomes redundant, where as a mouse mat is always usefull and would add another cool additional bit of merchandise to the Lomac list as well as something else on your desk that would look quite cool.

And yes i hear you cry but i have an optical mouse!! and have no need for a mouse mat! Well ok if you have an optical mouse then it is true but if you did have a Lomac mouse mat i'll bet it would be used with the optical mouse anyway since it would be a cool looking on your desk.

As for the style of the mouse mat Nic has opened a possible Mouse mat design competition!! some people said why not put the keychart on the mouse mat and combine the 2. I said that we should put a screen shot as background and the Keychart overlaid on that (obviously in a text colour that is readable against the screenshot) with a Lomac Logo on it somewhere.

any other ideas?

Do they use Meters in the game or milimeter when measuring distance, I can't seem to remember here at work. I am using a online conversion tool so I can figure this stuff out. Also when your giving an aircraft a target speed for a waypoint is that actually in kilometers/hour or miles/hour?

DA

OH yeah I want the laminated KeyCard to hell with a mouse pad I got a optical mouse unless they put the keycard on it but then wouldn't it to small to read.

Mouse pad for me. I have an optical mouse and it works much better on a mouse pad for me.

If you are flying a soviet/russian plane, DA, they use meters for altitude, kilometers for distance, and kilometers per hour for speed.

if you are flying an american plane you will be using feet for altitude, miles for distance, and knots, NOT MILES PER HOUR, for speed.

both types of plane also use MACH number for speed also.

BTW, there is a patch for LOMAC air to ground specialists that changes the altitude and speed of gauge readouts of both American and Soviet/Russian planes. In this patch, all altitudes are expressed in millimeters, so when your altitude reads 1000, that means you are flying 1000 mm, or approximately 1 yard off the ground. This is very valuable for mudders like DA and I so you can accurately measure your low level ingress to the target.

The speed is in warp units. This also is very useful so you can see if you have accelerated to warp speed or not. Handy for your egress.

Other features:

1. Changes the A10 gun rate to a light speed toggle. You better have your harness cinched up extra tight when you use this.

2. The target sight thingy instead of a HUD in the SU-25 is changed to an aquarium so you can still see through it but now you also have goldfish in it. very pretty now.

3. There are now cupholders on the panel. this way instead of using your turn & bank or slip skid tube you can look at the liquid in your cup and see if you are applying the correct amount of rudder in your turns.

4. You know that zoom in and out function? Well, now, the zoom not only zooms your view, but it also changes the size of your plane. If you go to the exterior or chase view of your plane you now can zoom out to the max and your plane is now the size of a hot wheels car. this is so valuable when you are flying 1 foot off the ground and using terrain masking on your ingress. not to mention lowering your radar cross section to enemy radar (or gaydar, if WOF members are with you. sorry i did not mean to say member).

on the other hand, if you zoom in to the max your plane becomes the size of the goodyear blimp. and then you won't fit on the runway. so be careful out there how you use this feature.

those who are interested can dl this patch at:

http://www.dumbasses.com/wtf.htm

If you get a 404, page not found error, reboot and try again. If that does not work, then remove your mobo and wash and dry it carefully.

If your nose was one yard off the ground then I very well think that you will be skidding your external fuel tanks and giving the people near by a pretty light show(if at night) from the sparks your kicking up. I fly low but hell not that dayum low, Madrus you have bigger Kahonas(not even close to the right spelling) than me there goes that dayum GAYDAR AGAIN!

...Madrus likes to fly jets the way I fly choppers. 30 ft off the ground 220+ knots to 5 miles off hth targets, hover, pop up, acquire targets, drop down, work it out on the MFD's, pop up, fire 16 hell fires, drop down, wait, pop up, look at the beautiful death and destruction you've caused, go home. Hoo Raa.

Not sure about the hover part with a Jet though... can't fly harriers in this one...

hehehe. glad you brought that up DA. you have to zoom out to the max so your plane is reduced in size. if your whole plane is only about 2 inches long and about 1 inch high (about 50 mm by 25 mm), you will have plenty of room under your plane at 1000 mm. in fact you can even go down to about 50 mm AGL and still have plenty of room.

just watch it when you approach the target. it will still be full size. and if you are at 50 mm AGL and you have to climb over a target that is maybe 20 feet high (about 6096 mm) that is one hell of a climb. and i do not know if warp speed or light speed kicks in quick enough. plus you will have to sustain about a bazillion g's in that climb. that will cause permanent damage. in fact, you will probably remain the size of a raisin after those g-forces.

Another really cool tip:

Go to audio options and select "Native Betty." this will change all the verbal warnings and comms to YOUR NATIVE LANGUAGE:

1. thar is a ban'it atchar six
2. your altitude is too low, uh uh uh uh uh uh, pull up
3. hey man, dere be a missile comin' at ya'
4. yo, bro, you be down wit shootin' dat mav? den puwl dee trigga, ***

*** insert your own obscenity here. "butthead" happened when i was flying.

yet another thread gone out of control.

Having trouble tracking targets with RWS/TWS in f15. Can't pick anything up even though I adjust the distance and alt. etc. Nothing. Not until I'm right on top of them and then I'm toast. Sucks! Another thing that kills me is I try adjust the alt. gap the radar is looking at and sometimes it won't let me adjust that. Suggestions?

OMG DA, can you imagine if it does come out in Ebonics? and what if the music changes to rap? now that i think about it, that might be a welcome change over some of the music they put in these sims.

I am having the same problems, Grif. Whether i switch to RWS or TWS, whether i adjust the antenna up or down, or left or right, or inc or dec the range, on russian planes or american planes, i usually can't paint any bogies let alone lock anyone up with the a-a radar. i rarely have a problem with the radar not adjusting. I hear of this problem from several others, so i think this is a bug that will be fixed with future patches. in particular, the aim-120 range is supposed to be fixed in the first patch - maybe this implies that the radar might be improved as well?

right now, i have the best luck with boresight or vertical scan getting me a lock.

Ok thanks Madrus...good to know. Thought I was doing something wrong, but I would think that given the fact that I tried every setting that the radar might be fouled. Guess I'll have to wait and see if an official patch fixes it.

The Radar in Lomac has been restricted when you are under 4000 ft or when your target is under 4000 feet to recreate the supposed real life effect of reduced radar abilities at these lower altitudes, but the Devs set the restriction to high and have left most people unable to locate targets on Radar, This problem is being resolved in the first patch that is coming out and is in the list of fixes that i posted!

Madrus what the hell type of drugs are you on or have you left the laughing gas on in your dental surgery, either way can you get me some cause whatever it is your taking is far to strong, looks like you are in a completely different universe at the moment!

You are 100% right Madrus, the music sucks and ummmm where is this AI generated Air Traffic Control and Radio Chatter they talk about. I'm sitting there in a mission just flying around and I see several AIM-120 launches(labels on) but no bravity call to announce it. And the menu options man again JF-18 had more to offer in that department.

I had my hopes up and nothing came about!

Sorry Nemisis, no drugs. You either get right wing conservative politics or sick, sarcastic sense of humor from me. Very, very occasionally you will get sage wisdom from living a long and interesting life.

My goal in life is to keep people from knowing which you are getting at any one moment.

hehehehehehe

I prefer the sick, sarcastic sense of humor. Sage wisdom is overrated (so is conservative politics -- or any politics for that matter - but that's another thread...)

Then I will try to keep to the sick and sarcastic.

Unless provoked.

IIRC, I have not offered unsolicited politics, I have responded to political statements proffered by others. If I have recalled incorrectly, then I will strive to do better.
