The Lancaster

Post by Trichome »

I came across this post last week and I offered to go to the Warplane Museum by my house to snap some pictures.

This will be a must get for me if it happens..... Seems like they're making progress (based on their Discord)

And the few it has been in it was not flyable.

I have crawled through a Lancaster about 15 years ago that was still flying. It was at EAA Airventure in Oshkosh. Have not seen it since.

The first thing that immediately struck me when I first saw real WWII aircraft at an airshow is "damn, people were a lot smaller back in the 1940's". Of all the fighters I saw up close, I'd say only the cockpit of the P-47 would I have actually been able to comfortably fit inside!
