Next map?????

Post by Cr33p3r »

Just throwing this out there. Probably needs some script cleanup to work but I wouldn't mind doing the Syria map. I'm open to anything though. i think it was brought up to do a cold war era so we can definitely eliminate some of the more modern day aircraft from this script to make it more cold war..

I vote Syria. It’s great for both helos and foxed wing aircraft.

yah, great mission. Surrexen's stuff needs quite a bit of effort to make it more realistic. also, these versions of his missions have an AI general on each side that will work to capture bases. I am not sure that is suitable for the group, in the past it really has not been as you have objectives that need to be accomplished within that mission. one is watch out for the c130 and escorts that go to capture your bases. and it seemed too hard to some. probably needs some significant time to clean up for realism and some more time to understand the scripting.

not to discourage, try it if you want. but it really seems made for a larger group or an online server where others are also welcome and show up to fly.

if you look in the missions file on the server under saved, you will see a Scarlet Dawn mission file that we did try - use the RLG version. let me know if anyone wants it in the server list to start it easily - I will put it in. it does not really look like he has updated it since i did the work on it, but it may well need more work.

Who in RLG access to amend the server missions?
Is it relatively easy to swap from one mission to the next?

Im not sure about amending LUA scripts but maybe I can download a few COOP missions and amend the flights via ME (send them to Hammer) for a Monday mission. 1 Mission about an hour ish. A mission like this ( below) - practice WITH mission goal?

I am looking forward to another big mission like the PG we did. Im open to any maps and missions. I just want to play with purpose and a stated goal.

You do not need to amend missions in the server. connect to server via remote desktop, open the missions folder that is on the desktop, and download the mission you want to modify. when done (meaning you have finished your modifications and tested the mission), connect to the server via remote desktop again and copy your mission file into the missions folder (again, open it from the shortcut on the desktop).

if you do not see access to the server in the member forum, let me know; it means i have just not added you to the group yet.

i would not discourage you from modifying the stock Scarlet Dawn mission, but unless you put significant effort into it you will find it pretty unrealistic in mission location and red unit placement and red unit mixes. as stated, Surrexen's mission have great scripting, etc. but they do not have much military realism at all. unless you do not care about such things. if you do care, at least take the work i have done along those lines already (I am sure there could be more done!) and add to it. to do so, grab the mission from the server.

I'd love to revisit this while we try to get liberation up and running. Can someone load up scarlet dawn syria? I'm a bit frustrated with the indestructible trees on marianas. Hopefully can add some Mi24's to that mission.

As one of the non-IT players, i'm at a loss as to how to follow the instructions to download the mission file, edit and re-upload.

Thanks!

maybe someone can grab the file and send it to you. i think you might need to add rotary wing and that's it for now. or you all can just try it out one night. as stated, it is already on the server.

he cares!!!! :D

i have attached the version of the mission that is on the server.

i will also say that if you can deit missions in the ME, you can do the "IT stuff" I mentioned! It really is not difficult, and probably several can show you how (myself, Grifter, Bones, Xpen, Jedi, and probably Panzer).

Thanks! I have worked with filezilla before but couldn't connect to the RLG server (if that's the right program) because I probably had the wrong settings. Makes me want to take the day off and work on this now.

I've got a late meeting again and probably won't be on this evening.

Creeper,
you connect with remote desktop, not a file management application. you should see if you can get some time with someone to show you. i am willing, but we need to coordinate a time.

Sounds good. I'll look into it.

I'll just work on the mission file for now.

I worked on this a little bit last night. We can have it as a backup if liberation doesn't work right.

Can the KA-50 be added as well?
