Trogdor

Did any of you ever see the Buffy The Vampire Slayer episode, where they were playing Dungeons and Dragons and the DM (one of the three 'evil' sci-fi loving dorks), pitted them against Trogdor the Burninator?

Honestly guys, why are we skirting around the main subject in hand here? Hands up if you can honestly remember NOT trying to oggle Buffy as she performed her little gymnastic tricks? Exactly! It's the same reason we watch the football interval entertainment or the afternoon Oz Style Aerobics program . . . . .

Faith ftw! Remember when she switched bodies with Buffy and then ran into Spike at the Bronze?

FAITH: Ooo!

SPIKE: Oh, *you*.

FAITH: And you.

SPIKE: What? Are you keeping tabs on me? You're gonna give me a hard time now?

FAITH: Um, do I usually give you a hard time?

SPIKE: Very funny. Well, you don't have to worry about me drinking. Unless you're here to protect innocent beers.

FAITH: You're a vampire.

SPIKE: Was. And as soon as I get this chip out of my head, I'll be a vampire again. But until then, I'm just as helpless as a kitten up a tree. So why don't you sod off?

FAITH: Okay.

SPIKE: Oh, fine! Throw it in my face! Spike's not a threat anymore, I'll turn my back! He can't hurt me.

FAITH: Spike? (recognition) Spike. William the Bloody with a chip in his head. I kind of love this town.

SPIKE: You know why I really hate you, Summers?

FAITH: (cheerfully) 'Cause I'm a stuck-up tight-ass with no sense of fun?

SPIKE: Well . . . Yeah, that covers a lot of it.

FAITH: 'Cause I could do anything I want, and instead I choose to pout and whine and feel the burden of Slayerness? I mean, I could be rich. I could be famous. I could have anything. Anyone. Even you, Spike. I could ride you at a gallop until your legs buckled and your eyes rolled up. I've got muscles you've never even dreamed of. I could squeeze you until you pop like warm champagne and you'd beg me to hurt you just a little bit more. And you know why I don't?

(Their lips very close, Spike doesn't say anything but seems *very* interested in the answer.)

FAITH: Because it's wrong.

(laughs, leaves)

SPIKE: (menacingly) I get this chip out . . . you and me are gonna have a confrontation.

FAITH: Count on it.

(Spike throws his bottle into the wall and walks off. He shoves someone and clutches his head.)

Cordelia? Hot? Ya, in the way that retarded linoleum is hot... I cannot see anything in a woman who does not have at least a bit of brains, and that character had NONE! Bleck...

Almost any of the main female characters is more attractive than her.

I did. Woot. She looked purty good after moving over to Angel, too, like in that episode when they all went to the ballet (and the ballerina was River from Firefly, btw).

Alienware. Lost. My. Laptop.

I cannot even believe it. I called asking for status, and they said they have no record of receiving my laptop.

And like a modern art masterpiece as the poster child for Jerries Kids, I misplaced the Express Mail tracking receipt. I need to go up to the post office here, and see if they keep records. I called the USPS main number and they were of less than no use to me. Had the lady been in front of me, and I armed, I would be in prison right now.

I know that they did receive it, because I had kept the receipt at least until October 1st when I called for status the first time, trying to make sure that they had received it, and the jackass on the phone led me to believe that they could confirm it being in their receiving center; though it had not made it to their diagnostic center, which could take several days. No worries, I was happy they got it was all.

This time, no record, nothing, nowhere. It's just gone into the ether.

I left a message through email after I hung up with their tech, explaining what a disgusting disgrace I think their customer service is, and how I believe this is an unfathomable screwup on their part. Now they want me to call their customer service department. Probably so they can laugh at me some more, and call me a moron for losing the tracking number.

I remain curious to see what they are going to do, to even remotely quell my disgust with their company at the moment.

that sucks...

the post office should have a record, but it may be a manual lookup.

if you called Alienware they should have a entry record of you talking to the cs rep...

found my tracking number

Post by Hudson »

Alienware has THE worse tech support I have EVER witnessed out of ANY tech company I have EVER worked with. And I spent 7 years plus in the field as a working professional dealing with MANY companies.

They lied to me twice. Then they called me a liar. They told me on the first that they were able to confirm that they had received my laptop, which is obviously not the case because they are telling me now they have no record of having received it (unless they are lying about that...) Then on the eleventh they told me they never received it, obviously also a lie because I now have my tracking number to prove otherwise. Then they insinuated that I was a liar, and that I never sent the laptop.

My suggestion, is that whatever you have heard about the laptops themselves (and they are fantastic), stear completely clear of this company. Ordering was an arduous and complex process, then getting support was an arduous process, and now that I have support, it is of THE worst kind. Having good engineers does not mean anything, if you are going to treat your customers like common criminals when they call.

But that is alright. I went up to my local post office, and the Gunnery Sergeant with the magic key, spoke the incantation, twisted the magic knob, shuffled some scrolls, and was able to tell me my tracking number.

Alienware tech support opens in three hours, we'll see how they defend themselves now.

Alienware is based in Dade County, Florida. 'Nuff said.

(ie the company probably consists mostly of minimum wage workers whojust recently immigrated to the US).

Nothing is wrong with legal immigration. The problem is that Dade County is run like a corrupt 3rd world banana republic and most of the businesses located in that county are run the same way.

well, 'just immigrated' implies legal immigration...

otherwise alien or or illegal or illegal alien is more proper if one is referring to such folks.

immigrant is a well known and legal term and probably should not be used in a derogatory manner - unless, i guess, one has issues with folks immigrating to the US?

Hudson! status report??? ;)

This is my email to alienware customer feedback

Post by Hudson »

This is my email to alienware customer feedback which I wrote this morning, because I had to get up very early this morning for PT, and got off the phone VERY late with them. It pretty much outlines the whole chain of events from time of buying the laptop, up to last night.

To whom it may concern,

I bought two new Alienware Area 51m 7700 notebooks in April/May for myself
and my wife. The week ending September 24th I spilled water in my lapop,
obviously causing severe damage to the system and voiding the warranty. The
first thing I tried to do is order repair parts for the system, so i could
repair it on my own. However, Alienware was not willing to send me a
motherboard for the system, which I could clearly see was damaged. They did
however, tell me that I could send the laptop in, pay to have it repaired,
and then when they system was repaired, it would be put back on warranty.
This was acceptable to me, and I proceeded to ship in the laptop from where
I am stationed in the United States Marine Corps, on Camp Foster, Okinawa
Japan via USPS express mail.

Alienware received the laptop on Sept 28th. I called on October 1st when I
checked the USPS tracking and saw that you had received it, to get
confirmation from your support that they had in fact received the system. I
was told at the time that they could confirm that they had received the
system.

On October 11th I called again to get an update on the laptop, because I had
not heard anything back, and was expecting a call, telling me how much it
would cost to repair the laptop, and asking if I wanted to go ahead and do
so. It was at this time that it became clear that your first support rep
lied to me, because he had no way of confirming that you received the
laptop, as your rep now claimed they had no way of knowing that. I had
since misplaced my tracking receipt, and had no ground to stand on when
talking to your support reps, so they immediately begam to lie, and tell me
that Alienware had never received any such package. A blatant lie.

On October 12th I called again, and asked to speak to the customer reps
supervisor, because of my frustration over the fact that you had lost the
laptop, and up to that point being unable to recover the tracking number for
the system. He called ME a liar, telling me that I had no way of knowing
that Alienware had in fact received the laptop, even though I had seen it
with my own eyes, on the usps.com website, and talked to one of your
employees, who supposedly 'confirmed' you had received it.

October 13th I had to make two phone calls, and visit my local post office 3
times, in order catch the gentleman that keeps the key to the safe, which
contains their records and copies of tracking receipts. But I got it, and
incidentally, your tracking numer is ED517168587US.

But the supervisor does not stop lying there. They were able to locate the
package in very short time, while I was on the phone with them this time.
The supervisor proceeds to tell your customer rep to tell me that this was
my fault because I did not place an RMA# on the package, while I am staring
at a copy of the tracking receipt with the RMA number listed below where I
wrote in Alienwares address.

Your supervisor at the customer service center also refused to speak to me,
for the 40 minutes I was on the phone with the rep on October 13th. None of
the individuals in your support center, who lied to me and/or called me a
liar, has apologized to me, no one has reassured me in any way whatsoever
that this is an unusual experience, when dealing with Alienware support, as
every time I have called I have had a similar experience, and no one has
offered any solution to make amends for the way I was treated.

I don't know what makes you, or any of your executives or employees think
that I should ever spend another red cent on an Alienware product so long as
I live. You treat your customers like common criminals. I took a chance,
on purchasing these systems, because I had heard how fantastic the systems
perform, even though I had been purchasing and using Dell computers for the
last few years. The systems were always top notch, and the support
outstanding. I could have just as easily purchased a Dell XPS system. This
is the reward i get for spending $6.500+ of my very hard earned money on
your computers. And I can see NO reason why I should ever do so again. I
do not know what kind of money you think military personnel in this country
make, but I assure you spending that kind of money is a huge investment for
any of them.

All this, while forgetting the fact, that my wifes laptop has already
suffered a hard drive failure, in under 5 months of use, two of which the
laptop saw NO USE because it sat at her mothers house, while she was in boot
camp. So in just three months of real use, she has already had to have her
laptop repaired, through no fault of her own.

And I think you should know, that up to this point we are EXTREMELY
dissatisfied with Alienware, and will seek our next computers down the road
from another corporation, that has some scruples when dealing with
customers.

Respectfully,
Jason Montleon
