So, it's goodbye from me. And it's goodbye from THEM!
Wayne Rooney blows it for woeful England. They never really sparkled for a team looking for a place in the semi-finals. And Portugal were pretty much their equal for much of the game. A couple of good chances, but then so did Portugal who although they had 50/50 possession they had fewer chances, but looked more dangerous when they did.
Rooney finally showed the immature violent side of his nature that many knew about and someone would eventually exploit, especially Ronaldo (a Manchester Utd team-mate). The donkey kick to the bollox he gave the Portugese player was at least a yellow card, but had he continued to play hard fighting for the ball, he may not have won it, but maybe had the ref's decision on a free kick. Instead he lashed-out, then as Ronaldo came up and approached the ref, he decided to lash-out again at Ronaldo, at which point had he been lucky with the ref's first decision to take a yellow, he was definitely going off. England down to ten men.
But you also see an incident between Rooney & Ronaldo, where he is having a talk behind his ear then pushes him with his forehead, as if to be warning him off. But in then end he should have known better than to react.
World Cup starting!
