Rise of Flight beta testing

Post by Buffalo Six »

well because its buried way down the list....I figured I'd post here

it looks like I'll be beta testing RoF with 4 other members of the 352nd. Our test lead has een working with the crew making this sim for 3+ years helping them United States Army Air Corp Historical Data from World War I because in the same complex where he works, is the USAF Historical Research Agency. Anyway, we will be beta testing this sim for looks to be the next 7 weeks or so.

I will have to adhere to a NDA (in Russian no less) but I will try to keep yall informed as I test this. Should be interesting.........

did you not post derogatory comments about it due to DRM here?

phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=12665

and now you are going to beta test? ;)

to add, on sim HQ, any discussion of the way RoF was going to be offered, i.e. online only, even for single player, can only be talked about in the DRM section of Sim HQ. I still think they are shooting themselves in the foot over the online only setup, a great many people never play stuff online, or are limited to a crappy dial up. I still think having to play on Russian servers is going to cause anyone not in Russia or Europe problems with connection speed and stuff. CoH, Sins, BF2, and Company of heroes all call into the mothership at launch, but all have a standalone single player side that does not need to play on a distant server, they play on your local one. RoF, is all online to russia. Hell my rig barely meets the recommended specs.

Without a dedicated server setup, and with having to play on foreign server, (yes I'm a spoiled N.A brat....lol ) I still dont see myself as having a lot of interest in getting serious with RoF, I think IL2 will keep me sated with my air warfare itch for many moons, but because the 352nd has had an ongoing 3 year relationship with the RoF dev team ( going back to when it was KotS) I will test it, and give good feed back, wither they listen is up to them

it is not online only. it is only a check on their servers for DRM and stats tracking. you do not play on their servers, you can still set up your own server. unless something has drastically changed since the last in depth interview.

if it is a MMOG, i am definitely not interested.

the way I read it was their sever handles all the psychics, but hell I could be wrong.

It looks now like we are in limbo.....but in or not something else has landed in our laps, and you would not believe me if I told you, but its very cool and uber super under penalty of death something at this time I cant talk about but you guys will love it =)

well, I for one am glad it handles all the "psychics" because I'm sure my Nvidia card can't predict the future. At least not without Windows 7 installed.
