Oshkosh

Post by Madrus »

I was at Oshkosh/EAA Airventure this last weekend and had a great time. I will be going again next year, so if anyone wants to meet me there or whatever, let me know.

But one thing of interest was (and I may be the last to know this) Microsoft's Combat Flight Simulator 3 that was on display and set up for all to play. It feels very similar to FS2002 and looks good - but it has Bombers now also and they have cooperative multiplayer capability. That is, when you play it single player you switch between pilot copilot bombardier navigator etc. When you play it multiplayer online - we all can switch between the positions. Can't wait for this to come out and WOF tries it.

Can you say "Air Warrior" ? Well can you? If you took the multiplayer code for AirWarrior and just added FS2002 graphics, you would have the BEST multiplayer simulator known to man- unfortunately, this proves to be too difficult. Using already-perfected techniques to make great games :P

Well, Air Warrior is not the only one that has had the multi-position bomber feature...and it is just a feature that has been in more than one game (some portions or all of it). The issue with Air Warrior and its ilk is the horrendous expense of playing month in and month out. That is why I have not tried WW2 Online yet...

Aces High does offer a free up to 8 players online dealie - always. Not sure how good it is. CFS3 will be the first in the CFS series I look forward to because IL2 rasied the standard so much for CFS to compete against. It also has the advantage over Air Warrior/Aces High/others in that it has more environment...these games typically have just teans by color, fly any plane, etc. At least until you get to scenario weeknds - then I think they shine...

Anyway we shall see, as we have tried to rouse interest in prop sims but it has not really taken off ( pun? :D )- we have been having fun with the jets...

How about IL2?

Post by Softball »

I would like to get a group of us and play some IL2 Sturmovik. I haven't played IL2 since it was released earlier this year. I played the heck out of it, but got lost in OFP and F4 and never turned back. I know for some people, prop sims are not at the top of their TO PLAY list, but mix it with some Co-op play, and it's a whole new ballgame.

So, anyone up for some IL2 Sturmovik (Latest patches and such)?

If so, I'm in.
