Need help getting images from VHS to web page

Post by Red Dog »

I'm putting together the "About the Artist" of my upcoming web site. I've got some footage from a VHS tape (F-16 incentive flight) that I would like to grab some still-images. How?

My vid card is a Radeon 9700 Pro. I don't have a DVD-ROM drive so getting the tape made into DVD is not an option.

VHS Capture

You will need some kind of Capture card or device installed on your computer. I have one called USB Instant DVD (External). It sells between $90 - $150 online.

This is the cheapest price I could find for it ($89.97):

It can capture video from a VCR, Camcorder, etc... You can capture screenshots in real time playback or from captured video clips.

OR

You can look into an ATI TV/capture card(Internal), they run from $40 - $60. Here is one at CompUSA:

Softball, thanks for the suggestion. In the end I went with a cheap solution that still gives a good enough image (for me anyway).

I just paused the tape and took a shot with my 5 year old digital camera.
