I'd like to think I can stay up long enough to accomodate you there - but last night I tried to stay up for Nemisis, and I was real keen on doing so, but fell asleep at the dining table on a wooden chair! Sorry Nemisis - I was really looking forward to getting online with LO-MAC again. :(

I find myself pretty good at keeping it imaginary--you know, the square root of a negative number.

Real is somewhere I just don't want to go right now...

It's like this. I work on computer support at a USAF base.

Today is a "Family Day." Active duty personnel that are non-essential, roughly 90% of them, are off. Civilian personnel have largely followed suit. Contractor personnel don't get the day off, but many have.
I didn't take the day off, so it's just me and one other guy here, but there's NOTHING TO DO.

Being busy makes the day go by. Being bored makes it crawl.

This is going to be a loooooooooong crappy day. I knew about it yesterday.

Well, I can certainly appreciate that for sure - done a few of those I can tell you! I'd have gone across to the simulators and tried to get in for a play - there musta been some way you could have wangled that? Maybe set it up the day before or something . . . . . :(

I made a visit to CFB Cold Lake in Canada on a professioanl development trip last year. I had the opportunity to go play in their ACM F-18 simulator. It was a static tub, no hydraulic movements, but I can honestly tell you, sitting that high up off the ground and with the scene draped around you with the projection system - your body reacts to the movements you make within the aircraft. The first time I did a loop I, it actually felt like I was gonna fall out the back of the tub - so much so that I eased off on the stick!! 8O . But, all in all, I was suitably impressed with it all, and when I decided it was time to land I performed a perfect landing, albeit I had to go around the first time, since the simulator is an ACM based machine, the ground resolution is diabolical, and you had to be within about 300 yards of the airfield to see it, never mind the damn runway. But I landed very nicely and have the print-out to prove it, LOL!
What I really liked was the way you pressed all those buttons on the console and they actually what you wanted them to do.

There aren't any simulators here. We've got the 920th Rescue Wing and the 45th Space Wing. :(

However, I understand there's an F-16 sim down at NorthGrum in Melbourne, where they work on the JSTARS. Never got to see it while I worked there those 3 weeks. :(
