Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory

Post by PanzerMeyer »

Does anyone have this game besides Jedi? Jedi and I played some COOP missions last night and it absolutely rocks. Would anyone here be interested in adding this game to our online reportoire?

I have the previous version, but as yet have not gotten round to playing it fully. Unfortunately they are not compatible. But I DO understand your enthusiasm, I had a real blast when I WAS playing. As Gator knows only too well himself. The problem is there is no real decent online play for multiples, I personally don't see what the problem is with melding several playersd together on a map and giving them two or four man missions to complete very similar to GR or RvS or whatever, I mean it must be the next step for the genre - adding that ability (team play) to a 'stealth' styled game. Imagine actually managing to stealth your four man team through a whole environment? You know actually being able to creep up on the enemy like you could in real life?! 8) Endless possibilities there . . . . .

Um, Kodiak. This latest incarnation of Splinter Cell has full COOP support. There are 5 missions plus a training mission where several guys can join in. It's pretty neat.

Tschhh! Now he tells me!
That's something I was unaware of for sure. Maybe I'll check that out if I get bored of what I'm doing, or maybe as a replacement for one of them on a permanent basis.

To clarify Panzer's statement, SC:CT has 2 mp modes.

Versus is the same as that in PT--4 players max in a 2 v 2 match, 2 in 1st person as guards and 2 in 3rd person as spies.

Coop is new, but supports only TWO players at a time. There are 4 special maps (plus a training one) which integrate with the SP storyline.

So, in truth it's not truely CO-OP then, just that you can run around with one other person. Well, it's a start I suppose - just hope they begin to realise the attraction of that stealth ability in the game to expand upon.

Actually, it's more coop than most games out there! You specifically need to work together to get anywhere!
For instance, you may need to get up ledges that are too high by yourself, but via boosting the other guy, then climbing up his legs while he hangs over the edge, you both can get up the wall. There are doors with 2 scanners that must be hacked at the same time, etc.

Ah, my mistake. I didn't know the COOP mode only supports 2 players. I guess that makes sense though. Kinda hard to be stealthy and sneak around if you have 5-6 guys on the team!

Very true! But the whole stealthy environment approach is excellent and should be a standard by now in my opinion. I don't mean having to sneak around I mean the ability to move around without triggering reacttion from enemy forces who probably can't even see you in real life, let alone hear you.
